  • Patent number: 7100487
Abstract: A method and apparatus for punching a guide notch in a polymeric zipper having a male and female track with respective fins. The method includes sliding the zipper into position in a punch housing and punching a guide notch into the zipper. The guide notch is defined by a plurality of edges in the zipper, which are guided out of the punch housing.

  • Publication number: 20030221535
Abstract: A process and system for cutting of slabs of a target food product. The slabs produced by this cutting step are within a predetermined size range, i.e., predetermined range as to height, length, and width. After a slab of target food product is cut so that it is of a size that is within the predetermined boundary of the predetermined size range it is introduced to a cutting tool at a predetermined time and at a predetermined speed. The cutting tool is of a predetermined size and includes at least one cutting area that is at least sufficient to cut a predetermined pattern of tessellated or nested figures out of the slab of food product.

  • Publication number: 20030210836
Abstract: A reclosable plastic bag comprises first and second opposing body panels, a zipper, a slider, and an extending portion with a peg hole. The opposing body panels are joined to each other along a pair of sides and a bottom bridging the pair of sides. The zipper extends along the opening formed opposite the bottom. The slider is slidably mounted to the zipper for movement between a closed position and an open position. The slider has an extending portion that is easily graspable to facilitate movement of the slider. The zipper extends along the opening a slight distance below the upper edges of the first and second opposing body panels. The extending portion has a hole for receiving a peg to allow for hanging the plastic bag in a retail setting.

  • Patent number: 6526726
Abstract: A method of applying a slider to a fastener-carrying web of plastic film. The fastener includes interlockable profiles and fins depending from the respective profiles. One of the fins is attached to the web of plastic film such that the profiles are immediately adjacent to the web. The fastener is folded away from the web about the attached fin such that the profiles and proximate portions of the fins are oriented at an angle, preferably about 90 degrees, relative the web. Because the profiles and proximate fin portions are oriented at an angle relative to the web, they can be easily accessed and controlled for applying the slider to the profiles and performing other fastener-related operations.

  • Patent number: 6494018
Abstract: A method and apparatus for guiding a fastener in a bag making machine includes a stationary support, an elongated internal guide, and a slitting mechanism. The elongated internal guide is mounted to the support and positioned within an enclosed space defined by the fastener. The fastener is moved downstream with the internal guide within the enclosed space. The fastener is slit upstream from the support. While the fastener is guided, a sealer may seal the fastener to a moving web of plastic film along a seal adjacent to the internal guide.

  • Patent number: 4807645
Abstract: A husking roll section for use in combination with a second parallel husking roll section within a husking machine, includes a hollow core with an outside surface, and a husking sleeve affixed to and surrounding the outside surface of the core to form a husking surface. The sleeve includes at least one hardened sector comprising a rigid rib, and a resilient major portion which is formed from an elastic material and which is bonded to the rigid rib and core. The husking sleeve presents a plurality of helical lands and grooves. When the rigid rib is a metal rib which is affixed to the core outside surface, the elastic material which forms the resilient major portion is bonded to the rigid metal rib sides and to the core outside surface so that the rigid rib sides are completely covered by the elastic material, and the metal rib and the elastic material immediately adjacent thereto form the hardened sector.
