  • Publication number: 20050261723
Abstract: A balloon assembly with an inner member and a balloon mounted thereon and folded in an accordion manner. The balloon comprises a plurality of pleats on either side of the inner member. The balloon can have an equal number of pleats on either side of the first inner member, or can be folded in an asymmetrical manner. The balloon can also be folded in a tri-fold accordion manner. Each of the pleats comprising an ascending fold and a descending fold, the ascending and descending folds connected by an apex. The pleats can also be connected by an apex. Alternatively, the ascending and descending folds can be connected by a curved portion, and the pleats can also be connected by a curved portion. The balloon assembly can also be a dual balloon assembly, with the second balloon mounted on a second inner member and also folded in an accordion manner.

  • Publication number: 20050245596
Abstract: Heterocycle substituted ketoamide derivatives of Formula (I), wherein the substitutes A, D, A and R are defined as in claim in, which are useful as cathepsin K inhibitors are described herein. The described invention also includes methods of making such heterocycle substituted ketoamide derivatives as well as method of using the same in the manufacture of medicaments for the treatment of disorders, including osteoporosis, associated with an imbalance between bone resorption and formation which can ultimately lead to fracture.

  • Publication number: 20050106525
Abstract: A system and method for repositioning teeth in a patient jaw includes an attachment bonded to a tooth. The attachment has at least one force receiving component for receiving a force. A polymeric shell repositioning appliance is positioned over at least some of the teeth in the patient jaw. The polymeric shell has at least one force transmitting component for engaging the force receiving component to form a locus of engagement. The locus of engagement transmits the force and moves but is maintained as the tooth is repositioned. In specific embodiments the locus of engagement is maintained over a substantial range of motion. The force transmitted at the locus of engagement increases in response to the tooth lagging an intended position. A space between the positioned appliance and the tooth permits the tooth to move into an intended position.

  • Publication number: 20040087984
Abstract: The present invention provides devices and associated methods for delivering side-to-side and end-to-side anastomotic connectors to join any two (or more) vessels together such that fluid communication is established between the lumens of the two or more joined vessels. The systems of the present invention employ one or more deployment mechanisms over which the anastomotic connector is positioned for delivery and subsequently deployment within a vessel. The deployment mechanisms may be inflatable balloons or expandable baskets or a combination thereof or the like, which, when inflated and/or expanded, cause one or more portions of the anastomotic connector to deploy.

  • Patent number: 4286609
Abstract: The invention provides a hot oil treatment for fingernails which involves a fingertip soak in a hot oil treatment bath for a period of three to five minutes. Then, the cuticle of the nail is pushed back. The oil treatment bath includes an emulsion formed in hot water from a blended mixture of vegetable and animal oils, emollients, proteins and vitamins. The invention also provides a novel packaging system which both shock-absorbingly cradles a bottle containing the oil treatment and provides a disposable soaking basin.

  • Patent number: 4181024
Abstract: What follows is a description of a system for detecting rotor system related vibration in a helicopter. The vibration detecting system comprises three essential units: a sensing unit or device; a control unit; and a model module. Actually, any number of sensing units can be utilized depending upon the number of locations at which the vibration is to be monitored. The sensing unit generates a signal indicative of the rotor system related vibration and delivers this signal to the control unit which operates on the generated signal and produces an output signal within a selected frequency and amplitude range. The output signal is then displayed, for example, on a scale meter. The model module is adaptable for compatibility with the dynamic rotor system of a given helicopter model and is utilized as such to set the limits of the selected frequency and amplitude range of the control unit. The model module is readily connected to and removed from the housing of the control unit.
