  • Patent number: 9308073
Abstract: An intravascular filter assembly has an expanded state for capturing thrombi in a patient's blood vessel and a collapsed state for removal from the patient's blood vessel. The filter assembly includes a fixed hub defining a tubular portion, a plurality of struts extending from a first axial side of the tubular portion of the fixed hub, and an axially movable hub. The struts have an expanded configuration and a collapsed configuration. The axially movable hub has a first position radially surrounding at least an axial portion of the tubular portion and a second position axially spaced apart from the fixed hub along the struts. The struts are in the collapsed configuration when the movable hub is in the second position. A first coupling member extends from the first axial side from the movable hub; and a second coupling member extends from a second axial side opposite the first axial side.

  • Patent number: 8360995
Abstract: The present invention provides a wire guide (20) suitable for use in a body vessel, such as a peripheral vessel. The wire guide comprises a core member (22) and a first coiled member (40), each having proximal and distal ends. In one embodiment, the core member comprises at least one recessed portion (36), wherein the proximal end of the first coiled member is seated at least partially within the recessed portion to form a substantially flush exterior surface with the core member. The wire guide further preferably comprises a second coiled member (50) having proximal and distal ends, wherein the second coiled member is disposed distal to the first coiled member. The distal end of the first coiled member may be partially intertwined with the proximal end of. the second coiled member. A shaping ribbon (60) may be disposed substantially beneath the second coiled member to achieve a desired curvature at the distal tip of the wire guide.

  • Publication number: 20110160680
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a medical surgical device and specifically a wire guide for percutaneous placement within a body lumen. The wire guide includes an elongated mandrel having sufficient flexibility and kink resistance and a cannula having a stiffness greater than the mandrel stiffness for sufficient pushability. The mandrel extends through the cannula and has a portion extending distal thereto to form a distal tip of the wire guide. The wire guide can further include a slotted cannula to improve the flexibility of the wire guide at the proximal portion of the wire guide. The slots can be arranged in various patterns for increased flexibility along the longitudinal length of the cannula, as well as increased circumferential flexibility along the wire guide. The mandrel may also have a proximally tapered portion to improve the flexibility of the wire guide at the proximal portion of the wire guide.
