    Abstract: A compartment within a sortation area associated with sorting a package for shipment is determined. One or more lighting elements associated with the compartment are activated to a first state. Data associated with the package being sorted within the sortation area is generated by one or more LiDAR sensors. Using the data, a position within the sortation area corresponding to the package being sorted is determined. The one or more lighting elements associated with the compartment are activated to a second state that is different than the first state based on the position.
