Bullet-resistant panels are incorporated to a suit jacket, a blazer, a sports coat, a leather jacket, an over coat, or a top coat to protect specific areas of the body such as the upper torso. The upper torso is protected from the front and the back. The incorporation of panels in to the garments allows the user to remove the bullet-resistant material at the same time when removing the garment. Other features include having the bullet-resistant material to be removable from the garment to use the garment in the usual way without protection.
