  • Publication number: 20210054847
Abstract: A monitoring and control apparatus communicates with an electrical drive of a subsurface artificial lift system to identify, predict and mitigate against failure of the artificial lift system. A monitoring and control apparatus: reads torque signals from the electrical drive or from a measurement device, produces a filtered torque signal; identifies frequency components of the filtered torque signal; compares the frequency components of the filtered torque signal with frequency components of a reference torque signal indicative of a healthy state of a pump motor of the artificial lift system to identify harmful frequencies in the filtered torque signal and generate a failure prediction index representing the likelihood of failure in comparison to a stable operation status; and then send a control signal to the electrical drive to adjust a frequency response of the pump motor so that the identified harmful frequency component is dampened.

  • Patent number: 8895481
Abstract: A method of treating a subterranean formation penetrated by a wellbore involves introducing an acid treatment fluid through the wellbore into the formation. The treatment fluid is formed from a zwitterionic viscoelastic surfactant, an acid in an amount to provide the treatment fluid with an initial pH of ?0 and a rheology enhancer. The treatment fluid has a high viscosity at the initial pH and a lower viscosity when the pH of the treatment fluid is raised to an intermediate pH of from greater than 0 to about 5.

  • Patent number: 8607864
Abstract: A method of determining when to stop pumping proppant during hydraulic fracturing in a wellbore is described. By accurately detecting tip screen-out with a bottom hole pressure gauge mounted to a perforating gun, the optimal amount of proppant can be supplied to a fracture while avoiding the risks associated with wellbore screen-out.

  • Patent number: 8485259
Abstract: A stand-alone frac liner that allows for fracturing of multiple lateral legs of a multilateral well on a single call out and rig-up of fracturing equipment. Tools and techniques are provided that include setting multiple stand-alone frac liners in multiple lateral legs of the multilateral well. The liners may rest in the legs physically untethered to surface equipment. Thus, a single call out of a frac string tubular and associated equipment may be used to frac the lateral legs in sequence from one leg to the next. This may be achieved without the requirement of removal of the tubular from the well or disconnect of surface fracturing equipment between the lateral fracture applications. Thus, a considerable amount of expenses associated with time and manpower may be saved.

  • Patent number: 8220547
Abstract: A method enables stimulation of a well having a plurality of lateral wellbores. The method comprises deploying fracturing equipment downhole for isolated interaction with each lateral wellbore of the plurality of lateral wellbores. The method and the fracturing equipment are designed to enable fracturing of the plurality of lateral wellbores during a single mobilization.

  • Publication number: 20060283596
Abstract: Formation zones of interest may be isolated and stimulated by substantially instantaneously providing a pressure equal to or greater than the fracture pressure of the targeted zone. A treatment fluid is accumulated in coiled tubing until the pressure is equal to or greater than the fracture pressure of the targeted zone. The accumulated pressurized treatment fluid is released substantially instantaneously at the targeted formation zone. The accumulated pressurized treatment fluid may be substantially simultaneously released with the detonation of a perforation gun.
