  • Patent number: 10228435
Abstract: A method for tagged magnetic resonance imaging is disclosed. The method includes steps of tagging an object with polar tagging patterns; acquiring data in a spatial frequency domain of the tagged object with a polar sampling pattern; and reconstructing an image of the object through a polar Fourier transform of the data acquired in the step of acquiring data.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 30, 2017
Date of Patent: March 12, 2019
Inventors: Abbas Nasiraei Moghaddam, Shokoufeh Golshani
  • Patent number: 9933502
Abstract: A preparation sequencing system and methods are disclosed for generating curvilinear taglines of altered magnetization in an imaging plane of an NMR image. A preparation sequencing module is disclosed for generating a sinusoidal gradient signal simultaneously with a continuous a radio frequency (RF) signal, wherein the sinusoidal gradient signal is shaped to generate a rotating on-resonance excitation plane such that each point in the imaged target volume is on-resonance at least once in a period corresponding to one full rotation of the excitation plane. The on-resonance excitation plane is configured to simultaneously generate a plurality of curvilinear or circular taglines of altered magnetization in the imaging plane.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 9551770
Abstract: A modified steady-state free-precession (SSFP) method for functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is disclosed for acquiring a complex-valued image of object. A modulating field gradient is applied to impart spatial modulation of the steady-state signal phase and magnitude across the complex-valued image of the object along the direction of the modulating field gradient. SSFP pulse sequence parameters and modulating field gradient parameters can be selected to optimize functional image contrast between, e.g., oxy- and deoxy-hemoglobin, derived from steady-state signal magnitude or phase of complex-valued images.

  • Patent number: 8073523
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system for obtaining strain corresponding to an object's deformation by radially-tagged magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The system acquires at least a ring-shaped crown region of Fourier domain (k-space) data for at least two sequential images of a radially-tagged object at different phases of deformation of the radially-tagged object. A first image represents a primary state of the radially-tagged object and a second image represents a secondary state of the radially-tagged object. Additionally, the images include radial tag lines. The first and second images are reconstructed as a reconstructed primary-state image and a reconstructed secondary-state image. The images are reconstructed as weighted by circumferential density of the radial tag lines, such that they are “tag line density-weighted” reconstructed images. Circumferential strain of the radially-tagged object is determined by comparing the two images.
