  • Patent number: 8186036
Abstract: A method of flow drilling a metal sheet includes flow drilling the metal sheet to produce a tubular extension from a surface of the metal sheet. The flow drilling is performed by forming two parts in the tubular extension, including an external part defining a hole of constant diameter and a seating part between the metal sheet and the external part. A cross-sectional shape of the seating part is hexagonal.

  • Patent number: 7976237
Abstract: A metal sheet includes a surface and a tubular extension projecting from the surface of the sheet. The tubular extension includes a first part and a second part that define a through-hole. The second part extends from the surface to the first part. A cross-sectional shape of the second part is hexagonal. A diameter of the hole in the first part is constant. A diameter of a circle inscribed in the second part increases from the first part to the surface. A screw can be screwed into the first part.

  • Publication number: 20100275669
Abstract: The invention concerns a flow drilling and tapping method for assembling thin metal sheets. A tubular extension (12) produced on said metal sheet comprises a conical mount (18) at said metal sheet (10). Through said mount (18), advantageously provided with a hexagonal base (24), the loads are transmitted along the tubular extension (12), and it is possible to fix a perforated element (1) on a metal sheet (10) having a thickness less than 1.5 mm and to apply a standard tightening torque.
