  • Patent number: 10785422
Abstract: A camera is configured to output a test depth+multi-spectral image including a plurality of pixels. Each pixel corresponds to one of the plurality of sensors of a sensor array of the camera and includes at least a depth value and a spectral value for each spectral light sub-band of a plurality of spectral illuminators of the camera. A face recognition machine is previously trained with a set of labeled training depth+multi-spectral images having a same structure as the test depth+multi-spectral image. The face recognition machine is configured to output a confidence value indicating a likelihood that the test depth+multi-spectral image includes a face.

  • Publication number: 20200168121
Abstract: A handheld device for translation of digital content on a display into tactile feedback includes: a body shaped to be substantially grasped by a user; a microcontroller located on the handheld device; a communications module in electronic communication with the microcontroller; a first braille cell comprising a plurality of movable individual braille elements, the individual braille elements collectively capable of forming braille alphabet letters; and a motion sensor for detecting movement of the handheld device relative to a surface. The microcontroller receives a command via the communications module to create a first braille character corresponding to a first character shown on a first row of characters on the display and wherein a second braille character is created on the first braille cell in response to detected movement of the handheld device.

Each pixel corresponds to one of the plurality of sensors of a sensor array of the camera and includes at least a depth value and a spectral value for each spectral light sub-band of a plurality of spectral illuminators of the camera. An object recognition machine is previously trained with a set of labeled training depth+multi-spectral images having a same structure as the test depth+multi-spectral image. The object recognition machine is configured to output a confidence value indicating a likelihood that the test depth+multi-spectral image includes a specified object.

  • Publication number: 20170316717
Abstract: A portable device for translation of digital content on a display into braille includes: a conductive material located adjacent an end of the portable device for contacting a display of a touchscreen device; a microcontroller located on a body of the portable device; a communications module in electronic communication with the microcontroller; and a first braille cell comprising a plurality of movable individual braille elements, the individual braille elements collectively capable of forming braille alphabet letters. The microcontroller receives a command via the communications module to create a braille character on the first braille cell in response to the conductive material contacting the display of the touchscreen device, the braille character corresponding to a character displayed on the display of the touchscreen device at the location the conductive material contacts the display.

  • Patent number: 9569005
Abstract: A user-centric method and system to identify user-made gestures to control a remote device images the user using a three-dimensional image system, and defines at least one user-centric three-dimensional detection zone dynamically sized appropriately for the user, who is free to move about. Images made within the detection zone are compared to a library of stored gestures, and the thus identified gesture is mapped to an appropriate control command signal coupleable to the remote device. The method and system also provides of a first user to hand off control of the remote device to a second user.

  • Patent number: 9361538
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for describing and tracking edges within the field of view of one or more imaging devices. In one example, the present system defines a row of pixels taken across a width of the edge, and then determines a binary edge descriptor for the edge by comparing at least one of grayscale values and contrast of pixels within respective pixel pairs from the row of pixels, the result of the comparisons setting bits within the binary descriptor.
