Abstract: This invention is directed at automatically connecting electric current in a location (e.g. hotel rooms and the like) in the presence of a person and automatically disconnecting it when the person leaves. It comprises a wireless portable signal transmitter and a fixedly-attached receiver connected to the mains supply of the location. The transmitter periodically sends a signal in a predefined manner. When the receiver receives the signal, it causes a main circuit breaker to close and thus provides the location with electricity, and the receiver causes the circuit breaker to open automatically after a period of time longer than those periods of transmission.
