    Abstract: Method and associated transgenic oil-producing plants, protists, bacteria, and fungi for increasing concentration of target fatty acids for use in food, biofuel, or industrial chemical applications. Modification of organisms to enhance lipase expression induces triacylglycerol (TAG) remodeling to change the composition of stored oils. Lipase converts endogenously synthesized TAG back to diacylglycerols, allowing resynthesis into TAG with different fatty acid compositions using fatty acid assembly enzymes either native to the organism or expressed through additional transgenic modification.
