  • Patent number: 6394255
Abstract: A rotary motion limiting arrangement includes a stationary component, a rotating component rotatable in opposite directions relative thereto, a pair of stops movably mounted on the stationary component for establishing a first set of opposite limits to rotational movement of the rotating component, and a link fastened to the stops such that, as one stop is moved between extended and retracted positions across and outside of a path of revolution of a lug on the rotating component the other stop is moved oppositely between retracted and extended positions. A braking mechanism is positioned, upon electrical energization, to halt rotation of the rotating component. Switches situated adjacent to the link and rotating component are electrically connected to the braking mechanism for establishing a second set of opposite limits to rotational movement of the rotating component within the limits of the first set.

  • Patent number: 6250062
Abstract: A fuel nozzle centering assembly and method employ bodies of a substantially wearable and sacrificial material mounted to an outer periphery of a tip of a burner fuel nozzle for a gas turbine combustor. The tip of the fuel nozzle extends through an opening of an annular collar attached to a liner of a main combustion chamber of the gas turbine combustor and an outer periphery of the tip is disposed radially inwardly from the annular collar such that the bodies of sacrificial material are disposed between the outer periphery of the fuel nozzle tip and the annular collar of the liner and space the fuel nozzle tip from the liner collar. The bodies of material prevent the fuel nozzle tip from contacting the liner collar during assembling of the fuel nozzle into the liner.

  • Patent number: 6216442
Abstract: In a combustor having an axis, a flow sleeve and a liner, a plurality of circumferentially spaced supports interconnect the upstream ends of the liner and flow sleeve to limit wear on the supports and accommodate relative thermal expansion of the liner and flow sleeve. Each support includes a flow sleeve stop having an angled surface, a groove and a female threaded aperture and a liner stop having a complementary angled surface, a rib and an enlarged opening. By inserting the liner axially through the open upstream end of the flow sleeve, the rib of the liner stop engages the slot of the flow sleeve stop. By passing a bolt having a spring through the enlarged opening of the liner stop and threading the bolt to the flow sleeve stop, the liner is biased for axial downstream movement to maintain the complementary inclined surfaces of the stops in contact with one another, thereby limiting wear and accommodating relative thermal expansion of the flow sleeve and liner.
