Patent number: 9053218Abstract: A method and software interface enables selective processing of data transmissions containing one or more medication orders intended for a pharmacy. Data transmissions are monitored and parsed for prescribed information which is utilized to populate a prescribed data structure. The data structure and parsing rules can be associated with a specific source that can be determined from the data transmission. The parsed data is tested against an order database to determine suitability for automated handling. If suitable, the medication preparation system prepares the medications identified by the data. Those portions of the data that are not suited for automated handling are released (e.g., from the parser). Further verification can be performed by determining the source of the data transmission and verifying it as a valid source. Data transmissions can be monitored over a network, within a network component, or in cooperation with another software program.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2006Date of Patent: June 9, 2015Assignee: Baxter Corporation EnglewoodInventors: Joel A. Publication number: 20140156294Abstract: A system for preparing and managing patient-specific dose orders includes an order processing server configured to receive the patient-specific dose orders, define a queue of dose orders and distribute the dose orders to at least one dose preparation station. The dose preparation station is in bi-directional communication with the order processing server and has an interface for providing an operator with a protocol associated with each received drug order and specifying a set of steps to fill the drug order. Steps to fill the drug order are captured at the station and a display, positionable independent of the station outputs the dose order queue and metrics concerning activity at the dose preparation station. Systems for preparing patient-specific doses and a method for telepharmacy in which data captured while following the protocol are provided to a remote site for review and approval by a pharmacist.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 10, 2013Publication date: June 5, 2014Applicant: FHT, Inc.Inventors: Dennis Tribble, Abdul Wahid Khan, Dennis Schneider, Gregory T. Publication number: 20140088768Abstract: A spray drier monitoring and control system is provided for a spray drier device adapted to spray dry a liquid sample such as blood plasma. The system may receive information regarding an operator of the device, the liquid sample, a spray drier assembly used by the device for spray drying, and spray drying process parameters. The spray drier system may also conduct a plurality of checks to ensure that traceability and conformance with attendant quality/safety standards are maintained throughout the spray drying process. The information may be output by the system to a remote computing device (e.g., a blood center computing system) that tracks the sample history. Beneficially, the spray drier system allows information regarding spray drying to be easily integrated with the sample information for enhanced tracking and quality control of the sample.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 29, 2013Publication date: March 27, 2014Inventors: Michael Haley, Dennis Brian Hubbard, JR., Samira Johnson, Abdul Wahid Khan

Publication number: 20140083628Abstract: A spray drier system is provided for spray drying a liquid sample such as blood plasma. The spray drier system may include a spray drier device adapted to couple with a spray drier assembly. The assembly may include an enclosure mounted to a frame. The assembly may receive a flow of drying gas which is directed by the enclosure shape towards a spray drying head mounted within the enclosure to the frame. Flows of a liquid sample may be further received by the head, which aerosolizes the liquid sample. Aerosolized liquid sample and drying air may be mixed within a drying chamber of the enclosure to produce dried sample and humid air. The dried sample and humid air may also be separated in a collection chamber of the enclosure, with the humid air exhausted from the enclosure.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 29, 2013Publication date: March 27, 2014Inventors: Abdul Wahid Khan, Dennis Brian Hubbard, JR.

Publication number: 20120185277Abstract: Central management of dose order preparation retrieves an unprocessed dose order record, selects a workstation from a set of workstations, forwards the order for conversion into a drug dosage form, and repeats the process for additional unprocessed dose order records. Depending on the operation type of the selected workstation (manual, automatic), protocol information concerning preparation of the dose order is selectively provided to the selected workstation. Interrogatable elements enable tracking of dose orders and dosage forms throughout preparation, storage and distribution cycles. Further methods enable rapid fulfillment by utilizing inventory ahead of drug order processing if suitable dosage forms exist in inventory records.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 17, 2012Publication date: July 19, 2012Applicant: ForHealth Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Dennis Tribble, Joel A.
