  • Patent number: 11320467
Abstract: Methods and systems for controlling power supplied to a plurality of appliances on a power line. Poly phase power measurements are collected from the power line by a dedicated energy metering chip are sampled at frequencies in the range of 0 kilo samples per second to 32 kilo samples per second and converted to digital power measurements. The digital power measurements are received by a real-time microcontroller. The poly phase power measurements are analyzed in real time, the poly phase power measurements are disaggregated, and a power report regarding a power usage of each appliance is generated by a computer processing unit, CPU. A power report is transmitted to a mobile application, power on/off commands for each appliance are received from the mobile application, and each appliance is powered on/off based on the power on/off commands.

  • Patent number: 11245200
Abstract: The suprastructure over a substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) can provide for beam scanning utilizing a reconfigurable metasurface. The reconfigurable metasurface will have a plurality of PIN diode arrays that can be turned ON and OFF. In one design, the length of the reconfigurable metasurface is effectively enlarged or reduced in size to achieve beam scanning. In another design the tilt angle of the reconfigurable metasurface is adjusted to achieve beam scanning. The suprastructure also can be modified with metallic offset wings, where two or more pairs of offset wing can form a horn shaped element. The presence of the wings or horn, as well as control of the size and number of the wings can improve the gain of the SIW. These two suprastructure improvements may be used in combination, and they may be used over classical slotted SIWs or over an SIW with curved sections between consecutive slots.

  • Patent number: 11223432
Abstract: An apparatus for determining unknown radio frequencies is described. The apparatus modulates a first optical signal from tunable optical source with RF signal that includes unknown center frequency value to generate modulated optical signal. The apparatus combines modulated optical signal with second optical signal to generate combined modulated optical signal. The apparatus receives output electrical signal from photodetector in response to receiving combined modulated optical signal at photodetector, splits output electrical signal into first output electrical signal and second output electrical signal, and filter first output electrical signal by applying first optical bandpass filter centered to generate first filtered RF signal. The apparatus tunes tunable optical source to first beat frequency value to determine unknown frequency value of RF signal.

  • Patent number: 11201643
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system of optimizing transmission of data in a power domain non-orthogonal multiple access system is described. The method includes generating a first encoded data stream associated with a first user device, and generating a second encoded data stream associated with a second user device. The method also includes generating a superimposed signal using the first encoded data stream and the second encoded data stream. In addition, the method includes determining a first minimum beam power associated with a first beam vector, and determining a second minimum beam power associated with a second beam vector. The method also includes transmitting the superimposed signal to the first user device at the first minimum beam power, and transmitting the superimposed signal to the second user device at the second minimum beam power.

  • Patent number: 11121441
Abstract: A substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) for phase shifter for millimeter wave applications has a waveguide with a plurality of curved sections and which passes through the substrate from a wave entry port to a wave exit port. The plurality of curved sections forms a serpentine path of curves in a first direction followed by curves in a second direction which are opposite the first direction. Phase shifting elements are positioned in the waveguide in each of the curved sections. The phase shifting elements may take the form of PIN diodes or a pattern of liquid metal filled vias in the waveguide.

  • Patent number: 10983496
Abstract: An apparatus and method are used for disaggregating and classifying energy consumption data from the overall energy consumption data of a building. Both high frequency sampling data classified by a convolutional neural network running on a cloud server and low frequency sampling data analyzed by a convolutional neural net running locally on an electric smart meter are used in the method. A control circuit switches between high and low frequency sampling modes based on the activity level of the building. Individual devices can also be controlled through a mobile application connected to the control circuit.
