  • Publication number: 20110229645
Abstract: Composition and process for low temperature curing of polyuretdione-polyol compositions in which the polyuretdione is prepared from a polyisocyanate with isocyanate groups and a polyol containing primary hydroxyl groups. The catalyst for the composition and process is an amine catalyst containing the group —N?C—N—, being aprotic, having a pKa greater than 20 and upon addition to the liquid coating composition causing a phase-change of the coating composition from liquid to solid at 25° C. and 1 atm. within one week.

  • Patent number: 7989074
Abstract: A polymeric material may be prepared by reacting a mixture comprising an amino functional polyorganosiloxane, polyisocyanate, and polyol. The polyol may comprise a hydroxy-functional poly(meth)acrylate. The polymeric material may be used as a coating for a substrate and may inhibit fouling on a surface exposed to aquatic conditions.

Inventors: Dean C. Webster, Robert J. Pieper, Abdullah Ekin
  • Publication number: 20110045219
Abstract: The present invention relates to an aqueous polyurethane coating composition comprising: 1) 1 to 99 wt. % of the reaction product of: a) a polyol component, which is soluble or dispersible in water and is the reaction product of a polyisocyanate component containing 50 to 100 wt. % of an aliphatic diisocyanate, a polyol component containing one or more polyether polyols and having an OH number of 25 to 350 mg KOH/g solids and an isocyanate-reactive component containing at least one group capable of salt formation; and b) polyisocyanate component, which is soluble or dispersible in water, has blocked isocyanate groups and is the reaction product of one or more polyisocyanates having an isocyanurate group content of 2 to 30 wt. %, a reversible, monofunctional blocking agent for isocyanate groups, a nonionic hydrophilic component and a stabilizing component which has 1 to 2 hydrazide groups and a molecular weight of 70 to 300; and 2) 1 to 99 wt.

  • Publication number: 20100280148
Abstract: A polymeric material, prepared by reacting a mixture comprising a polyorganosiloxane having one or more isocyanate-reactive functional groups, polyisocyanate, and polyol, is provided. The isocyanate-reactive functional groups, typically one or two, are attached to only a single end of the polyorganosiloxane chains. The polymeric material may be used to form coatings on a substrate and to inhibit fouling on surfaces exposed to aqueous conditions.

  • Patent number: 7799434
Abstract: Polysiloxanes terminated with one or more hydroxy functional carbamate groups are provided. The polymers may have the formula (I) wherein R1, R2, R3, and R4 are independently hydrogen, C1-C10 alkyl, C1-C10 fluoro-substituted alkyl; cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl, benzyl, toluoyl, xylyl and/or phenyl; R5 and R6 are linking groups; R15 and R16 are independently hydrogen, C1-C10 alkyl, cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl, benzyl, toluoyl, xylyl or phenyl; and L1 and L2 are linking groups. Typically, x is such that the polymer has a molecular weight of about 1,000 to 100,000. Other polymeric materials produced by reacting with an isocyanate functional compound or a lactone and coating compositions containing such polymeric materials are also provided.
