  • Publication number: 20210154658
Abstract: A semi-continuous or continuous method and system to improve all phases of ion-exchange resin regeneration such as backwash, resin separation, chemical treatment, slow rinse, fast rinse, resin mixing, and final QA/QC to reduce, reuse and recycle water and chemicals employed in ion-exchange resin regeneration operations. Aqueous media quality is controlled in both backwash as well as ion-exchange resin separation.

  • Publication number: 20050034978
Abstract: A wet oxidation/reduction electrolytic cell stack, system, and method for the remediation of contaminated water is disclosed. A porous electrode of large surface area produces powerful oxidizing agents in situ without having to add any reagents, oxidizers, or catalysts to the water to be treated. Further, by the appropriate selection of electrode material, organic contaminants may be absorbed onto the surface of the electrode and subsequently oxidized to provide a dynamically renewable porous electrode surface. Flow rates, and power requirements may be tailored to the specific moieties to be removed, thus allowing local treatment of specific waste streams resulting in direct discharge to a publicly owned treatment works (POTW) or surface water discharge. A novel feature of this invention is the ability to remove both organic and metal contaminants without the addition of treatment reagents or catalysts.

  • Patent number: 5578280
Abstract: This invention relates to a novel ozone generator device for the production of high concentrations of ozone by way of a design that permits a process environment that is consonant with the optimum values of hardware and operating variables that thermodynamically favor the production of ozone. The device is characterized by a small corona chamber resulting in a low oxygen retention time, a thermally conductive ducted core permitting circulation of a coolant for cooling the feed oxygen and produced ozone, a spherical corona chamber and electrode geometry promoting a homogeneous high electric field density, operating pressures as high as 2000 psi, free expansion cooling of the oxygen at both the inlet and outlet ports of the device, and the selection of an electrode that ensures the production and maintenance of a homogeneous corona. Also disclosed is a closed-loop ozone generator system wherein unused feed oxygen is recovered and recycled for further processing by the system.
