  • Patent number: 6805792
Abstract: A device for switching between two inlet ports in a skimmer submerged in a body of water so that the latter can be cleaned (filtered) from two different areas. A conventional skimmer has first housing with a filter basket mounted therein and a second housing mounted within the first housing below a cover assembly centrally mounted within the first housing. A vertically movable piston assembly movable within the second housing and with an upright elongated tubular shaft that slides through a shaft opening in the cover activates a valve when the piston approaches its uppermost position closing one of the two inlet ports in the cover. The speed at which the piston assembly moves upwardly to close the first inlet is regulated with a restricting valve at the upper end of the tubular shaft. The result being to change the active inlet ports allowing the cleaning of the body of water from two inlet locations.

  • Patent number: 6698558
Abstract: A brake system for garage doors including a piston assembly movable within a longitudinal housing assembly and including a central through opening and a threaded bushing rigidly mounted to the piston assembly. A threaded axle is cooperatively received by the threaded bushing so that the rotation of the axle causes the piston assembly to move at a predetermined speed longitudinally within the housing assembly. Longitudinal connecting apertures permit the flow of fluid adjacent to the ends of the piston assembly to flow through. A flapper valve assembly is mounted to one of the ends of the piston assembly by a separating spring member. When the movement of the piston assembly exceeds a predetermined magnitude, the spring member is compressed eliminating the clearance and closing the connecting apertures. This prevents any additional flow and rotational movement of the threaded axle, which in turn is mechanically connected to the counterbalance axle of an opening and closing mechanism for garage doors.

  • Patent number: 6047520
Abstract: The Tile Holder, Spacer, and Setter; and Table is an apparatus used for tiling floors. The apparatus holds tiles, spaces them adjacent tiles, and sets them to a consistent depth. The apparatus allows the user to stand erect without putting stress on their knees and back throughout. The invention also includes a table that is to be used along with the apparatus. The table makes adding adhesive to floor tiles easier and cleaner.

  • Patent number: 5988740
Abstract: A seat assembly that includes two symmetrical elongated seat sections having each an upperside, an underside with two ends. One of the ends of each of the seat sections are pivotally mounted to a pivoting axle that is transversally disposed. The seat sections are adjacent to each other. A reciprocating mechanism is mounted to the seat assembly at a distance from the underside and causes the sections to move in reciprocal opposite directions. The projection of a user's spine is substantially aligned with pivoting axle. When a user applies his/her weight on one of the pedals, some of this weight is exerted on the distal end which is turn causes the other section to lift the other leg, thus alleviating a user's fatigue.
