  • Publication number: 20130025148
Abstract: A tape measure includes a housing assembly defining a cavity and a tape port from which to extend and retract a measuring tape. The measuring tape forms a spool rotatably coupled about an axis. A hook member is fixedly coupled to an end portion of the measuring tape. A U-shaped guard member extends from the housing assembly adjacent the tape port. The guard member is configured to engage the hook member when the measuring tape is retracted into the housing assembly.

  • Publication number: 20130025147
Abstract: A tape measure includes a housing assembly having a first side wall, a second side wall, and a peripheral wall extending from the first side wall to the second side wall. A cavity is defined within the housing assembly, and the first side wall defines at least one aperture open to the cavity during use of the tape measure. The peripheral wall defines a tape port. A spool is rotatably supported in the cavity about an axis and includes at least a portion of a measuring tape. A hook member is fixedly coupled to an end portion of the measuring tape. The spool includes a retraction mechanism with an elongated coiled spring.

  • Publication number: 20120155979
Abstract: A cutting tool includes a tool body having a first end engageable with a workpiece and a second end engageable with a spindle of a power tool. A blade extends outwardly from the first end of the tool body and including a cutting edge, the cutting edge being engageable with a workpiece to cut the workpiece. A bit, including a drive shaft and a cutting end extends along an axis of the tool body. The drive shaft extends axially outwardly beyond the first end of the tool body and terminates at the cutting end. The cutting end has a maximum cross-sectional width greater than a maximum cross-sectional width of the drive shaft, and an axial distance from the first end of the tool body to the cutting end is greater than a maximum cutting depth of the cutting tool.

  • Publication number: 20120111156
Abstract: A pliers includes a first member having a first head, a first handle, and a first grip. The first grip is positioned on the first handle such that an end portion of the first handle opposite the first head is exposed. The pliers also includes a second member pivotally coupled to the first member. The second member has a second head, a second handle, and a second grip. The second grip is positioned on the second handle such that an end portion of the second handle opposite the second head is exposed. Each grip includes a slot that facilitates sliding the grips onto the first and second handles over the end portions.

  • Publication number: 20120102752
Abstract: A cutting tool includes a first grip portion, a second grip portion, and a first head portion coupled to the first grip portion to define a first handle. The first head portion includes a cutting blade having a cutting portion and a slitting portion. A second head portion is coupled to the second grip portion to define a second handle. The second head portion includes an arcuate portion sized and configured to support the tube and a concave portion sized to receive a portion of the tube. The first handle is pivotally coupled to the second handle to move between an open position and a closed position, wherein the cutting portion is operable to cut the tube as the handles move from the open position and the closed position, and wherein the slitting portion is operable to slice the tube supported in the concave portion when the handles are in the closed position.
