  • Publication number: 20200400049
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for a lubricant system for an engine. In one example, the system includes external delivery lines coupling an oil reservoir of the engine to a plurality of cylinder head oil galleries, the engine also having internal oil passages. An amount of hydraulic fluid delivered via the external delivery lines is controlled by a pressure control valve having a vent line.
    Type: Application
    Filed: June 19, 2019
    Publication date: December 24, 2020
    Inventors: Abhijyoth Vempati, David Simon

  • Patent number: 10344705
Abstract: An engine has a cylinder head defining an intake port with a roof defining first and second valve guide bores upstream of first and second siamesed intake valve seats for a cylinder. The head has first and second asymmetric fairings extending outwardly from the roof and positioned directly upstream of respective bores. Each fairing has an inner wall intersecting an outer wall along an upstream edge and an inclined planar roof wall extending between the inner and outer walls. A method of forming the cylinder head and engine is also provided by milling the fairings from a roof preform formed with the intake port of the head.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 18, 2016
Date of Patent: July 9, 2019
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC
Inventors: John Christopher Riegger, Jeffrey D. Fluharty, Philip Damian Cierpial, Abhijyoth Vempati
  • Patent number: 9989059
Abstract: A noise-reduction mechanism is coupled to a portion of an oil-pump system and includes various tunable components that are configurable to affect specific frequency ranges of noise within the system. The mechanism includes a series of channels that are coupled to a portion of the oil-pump system (e.g., outlet tube) and are coupled to a reservoir.
