  • Patent number: 9894589
Abstract: Methods, computer-readable medium, and apparatus are described for coordinating system selection among a set of nodes. The described aspects include determining that a node is part of a subset of nodes, wherein each node in the subset of nodes performs one or more system scans for a set of nodes that includes the subset of nodes, performing the one or more system scans by the node on one or more Radio Access Technologies (RATs) in response to determining that the node is part of the subset of nodes, obtaining one or more system scan results from the one or more system scans on the one or more RATs, and transmitting the one or more system scan results to the set of nodes.

  • Publication number: 20170230870
Abstract: A method for performing data service switch for a mobile communication device having a first subscription configured as a dedicated data subscription (DDS) and a second subscription includes: receiving a multimedia messaging service (MMS) message notification on the second subscription; calculating an approximate transfer time for receiving the MMS message; determining the that the approximate transfer time is less than a specified time; in response to determining that the approximate transfer time is less than the specified time, performing at the mobile communication device a local packet switched (PS) service detach procedure for the first subscription; performing a circuit switched (CS) service attach procedure for the first subscription; and performing a PS service attach procedure for the second subscription.

  • Patent number: 9363844
Abstract: Methods, systems, apparatuses and devices are described for managing a call during radio link failure. In one embodiment, radio link failure over a radio access technology may be detected during or after a call setup procedure. A public land mobile network and an equivalent public land mobile network may be selected. An initial search for cells of the radio access technology may be performed over the selected public land mobile network and the equivalent public land mobile network. The initial search may be performed once or twice based on a configurable parameter.

  • Publication number: 20140099952
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for avoiding attempts by a UE to attach to a RAT network when that RAT network is unavailable. According to certain aspects, the UE may detect scenarios when the RAT network is unavailable and take preemptive action to prevent the UE from attempting to acquire service on that RAT. For example, the UE may effectively remove that RAT from a list of supported RATs by sending a UE capability message indicating that RAT is not supported, which may prevent network-initiated transitions of the UE to that RAT. The UE may also remove the unavailable RAT from an internal list of supported RATs, which may prevent UE-initiated transitions to that RAT.

  • Publication number: 20140003364
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for improving call setup performance. In certain aspects, a User Equipment (UE) or a network servicing the UE, may detect at least one of the occurrence or anticipated occurrence of circuit switched (CS) signaling by a user equipment (UE), wherein the CS signaling at least comprises signaling associated with a CS call setup procedure, suspend packet-switched (PS) signaling or processing of such PS signaling in order to avoid delaying circuit-switched (CS) signaling, at least until the PS signaling may not substantially effect CS domain activity. In an aspect, a progress of a CS call setup procedure may be monitored and the PS signaling or processing of such PS signaling may be resumed based on completion of a radio bearer setup step in the CS call setup procedure.
