  • Publication number: 20250261253
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, components, devices and systems for announcing opportunistic primary channel switching. Various aspects generally relate to a channel switch announcement (CSA) element that may announce an opportunistic primary (O-Primary) channel switch. Various aspects relate more specifically to an expanded channel switch mode field of a CSA element that may indicate whether a wireless station (STA) is permitted to transmit via the first O-Primary channel during the switch, whether a new operating class field is present in the CSA element, and an index associated with the switched O-Primary channel. In some aspects, the CSA element may be a separate information element, or an element defined within a non-primary channel access (NPCA) wrapper. The AP may transmit the CSA element via a beacon frame, a probe response frame, or a dedicated channel switch announcement frame.

  • Patent number: 12388505
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first wireless device (e.g., station (STA), access point (AP)) may transmit to a second wireless device during a service period, an initiating frame using a transmit beam that is based on a first beam training procedure performed between the devices prior to the service period. The first wireless device may perform a second beam training procedure during the service period based on an absence of a response frame from the second wireless device, based on an indication within the response frame received from the second wireless device, or based on identification of a change in a wireless channel relative to a previous beam training interval or previous service period. The first wireless device may then communicate one or more messages with the second wireless device using one or more beams that are based on the second beam training procedure.

  • Patent number: 12382296
Abstract: Techniques for improved spatial reuse for wireless local area network (WLAN) networks are described. An access point (AP) may win a contention to a wireless medium and obtain a transmission opportunity (TXOP). The AP may perform a procedure to identify a group of un-managed APs for participation in spatial reuse opportunities for synchronous transmission over the TXOP. The AP may perform the procedure using over-the-air signaling. The AP may transmit a spatial reuse (SR) poll frame to one or more un-managed APs of the network, either sequentially or as part of a multiple-AP procedure. The AP may receive an SR response frame, or directly measure potential interference of a station (STA) serviced by one or more un-managed APs, and select a group of APs for coordinated reuse over the TXOP. The AP may select the group of APs based on one or more criteria for coordinated reuse.

  • Patent number: 12382476
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, devices, apparatus and methods, including computer programs encoded on storage media, for providing uplink broadcast service connectivity via a wireless local area network (WLAN). In some implementations, a wireless device may transmit an uplink communication to an access point (AP) that supports uplink broadcast services, and the AP may forward the uplink communication to a remote destination indicated in the uplink communication. In some implementations, the wireless device may be in an unassociated state and may transmit the uplink communication without establishing a formal wireless session with the AP. The uplink communication may include a request for the AP to embed AP-provided data to the uplink communication before forwarding it the remote destination. This disclosure includes techniques to prevent flooding and unauthorized uplink communications being used for a denial of service attack on the remote destination.

  • Publication number: 20250247678
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for reliable delivery of enhanced broadcast services (EBCS) downlink (DL) packets to wireless stations (STAs) that support EBCS (also referred to as “EBCS STAs”) and maintaining interoperability with STAs that do not support EBCS. A wireless communication device may broadcast one or more EBCS DL packets carrying data associated with an EBCS service. In some aspects, the wireless communication device may subsequently transmit a trigger frame soliciting information indicating which, if any, of the EBCS DL packets were missed by EBCS STAs in the vicinity. In some other aspects, each EBCS DL packet may carry signaling indicating that the broadcast data is intended only for EBCS STAs. Still further, in some aspects, the wireless communication device may broadcast an EBCS traffic advertisement indicating a timing of the one or more EBCS DL packets.

  • Publication number: 20250234375
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, components, devices and systems for access point (AP)-aided downlink transmission opportunity (TXOP) preemption by stations (STAs) with low-latency uplink traffic. Some aspects more specifically relate to how a STA transmits a preemption indication (PRI) associated with a signature of the STA and how an AP, via reception of signature-based PRIs, may obtain information relating to which specific STAs have low-latency traffic ready for uplink transmission. Such signatures may relate to a resource allocation, such as a tone pattern, used to transmit at least a portion of a PRI. In some examples, the AP transmits a preemption scheduling (PRS) frame that includes channel access information, for each of the STA(s) that sent a PRI, associated with a downlink TXOP of the AP. Such channel access information may include at least a grant of permission for STA(s) to attempt uplink preemption of the downlink TXOP.

  • Patent number: 12363633
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods and devices for introducing a power save protocol (for example, a lower power mode) for a multi-link devices (MLDs). Some aspects more specifically relate to reducing power consumption in an access point (AP) MLD, and more particularly, to a power save protocol (or a lower power mode) for an AP MLD. In some aspects, an AP MLD may initiate a lower power mode to save power for as long as possible while still maintaining minimal receive (RX) and transmit (TX) functionality. When requested by an associated station (STA), the AP MLD may then transition from the lower power mode to a higher power mode with full RX and TX functionality with a minimal delay. The described techniques may also account for trade-offs and constraints which arise due to different use cases and scenarios as well as different device configurations.

  • Publication number: 20250185062
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, components, devices, and systems for enhanced data channel access (EDCA) for coordinated channel access. Some aspects more specifically relate to EDCA prioritization for accessing a wireless channel during restricted target wakeup time (rTWT) service periods (SPs). • Patent number: 12323857
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for enhanced bandwidth negotiation. Some implementations more specifically relate to request-to-transmit (RTS) and clear-to-send (CTS) frame designs that support bandwidth negotiations over a range of bandwidths achievable in accordance with the IEEE 802.11be amendment, and future generations, of the IEEE 802.11 standard. In some implementations, a bandwidth negotiation frame (such as a CTS or RTS frame) may be configurable to support bandwidths greater than 160 MHz. In some aspects, the bandwidth negotiation frame may conform to a legacy control frame format. More specifically, one or more bits of a service field associated with the legacy control frame format may be repurposed to carry enhanced bandwidth information. In some aspects, a recipient of a bandwidth negotiation frame may interpret one or more bits of the service field to carry enhanced bandwidth information when the frame is transmitted by a non-legacy transmitting device.
