  • Publication number: 20220022033
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems that facilitate mobility of wireless communication devices configured for multi-link operation (MLO). Particular aspects more specifically relate to facilitating fast basic service set (BSS) transitions by wireless communication devices that support MLO. For example, some aspects provide support for station (STA) multi-link device (MLD) roaming between access point (AP) MLDs, from an AP MLD to a non-MLO AP, or from a non-MLO AP to an AP MLD. In some aspects, a STA MLD may be configured to use a medium access control (MAC) service access point address (MAC-SAP address) of the AP MLD when re-associating or communicating with a legacy AP or with an AP MLD. In such aspects, the MAC-SAP address may be used by all STAs of the non-AP MLD for fast BSS transitions.

  • Publication number: 20210410068
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for wireless communications are described. Stations operating within a system may have a primary radio and a wakeup or low-power radio. Access points (APs) may send indications receivable by the wakeup radio to alert a station of a pending data transmission for the station. APs may transmit synchronization beacons for wakeup radios of the stations, and the transmission timing for the synchronization beacons may be adapted based on operating conditions of one or more stations. For example, an AP may skip transmissions of a synchronization beacon or may adapt the frequency of synchronization beacon transmissions based on various operating conditions or factors. Stations may report certain information about operating conditions or capabilities that may be used to adapt synchronization beacon transmissions.

  • Publication number: 20210400751
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. The described techniques relate to improved methods, systems, devices, or apparatuses that support a 20 MHz station (STA) parked on a secondary channel. Without the described techniques, mechanisms to support secondary channel operation may be unable to receive management frames or broadcast traffic from an access point (AP), which may cause the STA to lose synchronization with the AP, miss a channel change or other critical announcement from the AP, etc. Considerations for providing such information to STAs parked on a secondary channel are discussed. In some examples, an AP may restrict resource unit allocation to the secondary channel on which the STA is parked. In some cases, a trigger-based random access mechanism may utilize aspects of the present disclosure to limit access to certain resource units to STAs on a given secondary channel.

  • Patent number: 11206687
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatuses for coordinating access to a shared wireless medium among multiple master devices operating on the same frequency band. In some implementations, master devices may contend for access to the shared medium during a medium reservation window (MRW). During the MRW, master devices may advertise their intent to reserve at least a portion of the shared medium for one or more timeslots within a subsequent medium utilization period. The reservation messages may be broadcast to other master devices in the vicinity to prevent other master devices from accessing the wireless medium during a reserved timeslot. In some implementations, the owner of a timeslot may share at least a portion of its timeslot with other master devices. For example, the timeslot owner may enable other master devices to utilize an unused portion of the wireless medium, such as unused channels, spatial streams, or time.

  • Publication number: 20210345418
Abstract: An access point (AP) may prioritize the allocation of uplink resources between multiple basic service sets (BSSs). In some aspects, the AP may select one of a plurality of BSSs, may allocate one or more random-access resource units (RUs) to only the selected BSS, and may transmit, for each of the selected BSSs, a respective frame indicating the random-access RUs allocated to that BSS. Wireless devices belonging to the selected BSS may contend for access to the random-access RUs allocated by the frame, and then transmit uplink data using the random-access RUs.

  • Patent number: 11139929
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. An access point (AP) and a station (STA) may identify an identifier for a shared block acknowledgment (ACK) session between the AP and the STA. The AP and the STA may further identify a set of member APs also for the shared block ACK session. For example, the STA may transmit a probe signal to discover the APs with which to associate. Additionally or alternatively, an AP may broadcast a probe signal to discover the STA. In one example transmission scheme, after associating, a primary AP may transmit a set of protocol data units (PDUs) to the APs, to which the AP may reply with a block ACK. The block ACK may indicate one or more PDUs that were not successfully received. One or more secondary APs may retransmit the PDUs determined to be missing.

  • Publication number: 20210297865
Abstract: Techniques for improved spatial reuse for wireless local area network (WLAN) networks are described. An access point (AP) may win a contention to a wireless medium and obtain a transmission opportunity (TXOP). The AP may perform a procedure to identify a group of un-managed APs for participation in spatial reuse opportunities for synchronous transmission over the TXOP. The AP may perform the procedure using over-the-air signaling. The AP may transmit a spatial reuse (SR) poll frame to one or more un-managed APs of the network, either sequentially or as part of a multiple-AP procedure. The AP may receive an SR response frame, or directly measure potential interference of a station (STA) serviced by one or more un-managed APs, and select a group of APs for coordinated reuse over the TXOP. The AP may select the group of APs based on one or more criteria for coordinated reuse.

  • Publication number: 20210282119
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses for wireless communication. An example wireless communication device broadcasts a first beacon frame over a first communication link of an access point (AP) multi-link device (MLD) (AP MLD), and broadcasts a second beacon frame over a second communication link of the AP MLD. The first beacon frame indicates transmission of group data over the first communication link, and the second beacon frame indicates transmission of the group data over the second communication link. The wireless communication device transmits the group data, concurrently over the first and second communication links, to one or more wireless stations (STAs). Another example wireless communication device obtains one or more beacon frames indicating buffered group data in an AP MLD for at least the wireless communication device, selects one or more group communication links, and obtains the group data over the one or more selected group communication links.

  • Publication number: 20210282161
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for sharing resources of a wireless medium. Particular implementations relate more specifically to coordinated AP (CAP) time-division-multiple-access (TDMA) and orthogonal-frequency-division-multiple access (OFDMA) techniques for sharing the time or frequency resources of a transmission opportunity (TXOP). According to such techniques, an AP that wins contention and gains access to the wireless medium for the duration of a TXOP may share its time or frequency resources with other selected APs. To share its resources, the winning AP may partition the TXOP into multiple time or frequency segments each including respective time or frequency resources representing a portion of the TXOP, and allocate each of the time or frequency segments to itself or to one of the selected APs.

  • Publication number: 20210282047
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for communicating over multiple links, for example, indicating buffered units (BUs) per traffic identifier (TID) for transmission to multi-link devices (MLDs). One innovative aspect of the subject matter described in this disclosure can be implemented in a method for wireless communication. The method can be performed, for example, by a non-access point (non-AP) MLD. The non-AP MLD can receive an indication of an association identifier (AID) associated with the non-AP MLD, wherein the indication of the AID indicates whether an AP has BUs for the non-AP MLD, determine one or more links associated with one or more TIDs based on a mapping of a plurality of TIDs, including the one or more TIDs, to a plurality of links, including the one or more links, receive the BUs associated with the one or more TIDs from the AP on the determined links.
