Publication number: 20230236713Abstract: Aspects of this present disclosure relate to hybrid conference user interface. The hybrid conference interface provides an establishing shot before the meeting begins that places meeting attendees in a specific spatial arrangement, such as in specific seats around a conference table. Upon starting the conference, the hybrid user interface renders an appropriate perspective view of the meeting that is tailored to each attendee's perspective while also being spatially consistent for the entire group of attendees. Allowing attendees to place themselves where they want gives attendees a sense of physical space that helps them stay spatially oriented relative to the other people and resources in the room.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 17, 2023Publication date: July 27, 2023Applicant: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: John C. TANG, William Arthur Stewart BUXTON, Andrew D. WILSON, Kori M. INKPEN, Sasa JUNUZOVIC, Abigail J. SELLEN, Edward Sean Lloyd RINTEL

Patent number: 8633934Abstract: Animation creation is described, for example, to enable children to create, record and play back stories. In an embodiment, one or more children are able to create animation components such as characters and backgrounds using a multi-touch panel display together with an image capture device. For example, a graphical user interface is provided at the multi-touch panel display to enable the animation components to be edited. In an example, children narrate a story while manipulating animation components using the multi-touch display panel and the sound and visual display is recorded. In embodiments image analysis is carried out automatically and used to autonomously modify story components during a narration. In examples, various types of handheld view-finding frames are provided for use with the image capture device. In embodiments saved stories can be restored from memory and retold from any point with different manipulations and narration.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2012Date of Patent: January 21, 2014Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Xiang Cao, John Helmes, Abigail J. Publication number: 20120242609Abstract: Existing tools for organizing family memories offer few possibilities for easily integrating both physical and digital materials in order to produce a single archive for a family (or other group of users). This also applies to archiving of physical objects and digital media in general (even for applications outside the field of family use). An archiving system is described which incorporates at least one image capture device, a display, a sensing apparatus arranged to detect user input associated with the display, a processor and memory, and a receptacle for holding digital media storage devices such as mobile telephones, digital cameras, personal digital assistants and the like. The image capture device is operable to capture digital images of physical objects for archiving. The receptacle comprises a data transmission apparatus for automatically transferring data with the digital media storage devices and optionally also a power charging apparatus.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 11, 2012Publication date: September 27, 2012Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Shahram Izadi, Abigail J. Sellen, Richard M. Banks, Stuart Taylor, Stephen E. Hodges, Alex Butler

Patent number: 6766494Abstract: The reading and writing system enhances free-form ink annotating and note taking by creating links between passages in response to free-form ink. The reading and writing system generates links between free-form ink anchors and also generates links between documents in different windows when a free-form ink stroke extends across window boundaries. The reading and writing system also removes a link when the free-form ink stroke representing the link is erased. The reading and writing system will display the ink anchors in a display showing all related linked anchors with their surrounding context when a corresponding link is selected.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 1998Date of Patent: July 20, 2004Assignees: Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd., Xerox CorporationInventors: Morgan N.
