  • Patent number: 4418436
Abstract: A brush bristle cleaning system (10) which is adapted to be manually operable and held in one hand of the user. The brush bristle cleaning system (10) includes a frame within which is inserted a helical wire element (34) defining a plurality of helical loops (36) which extend in longitudinal direction (26) between and attached to leg members (20 and 22) of frame member (18). The helical loops (36) are provided with differing diameters in a monotonically increasing dimension from the end portions to the central section of the longitudinally extended helical wire element (34). The frame (18) is combination with the differing diameter helical loops (36) provide end spaces (44 and 46) which allow helical loops (36) to be vertically displaced, as well as longitudinally displaced. Brush bristles (12) of brush (14) are inserted between helical loops (36) and moved in both vertical direction (28) as well as longitudinal direction (26) to remove particles of paint adhering to bristles (12).

  • Patent number: 4387477
Abstract: A paint roller cleaning system (10) for cleaning a roller brush (12) of a paint roller (14). The paint roller cleaning system (10) includes a longitudinally extended frame member (20) having sidewalls (26, 26', 28, 28') extending around and defining a periphery of the frame member (20). An internal section (30) of frame member (20) includes a plurality of longitudinally extending helical coil members (32) which are secured to opposingly displaced sidewall members (28 and 28'), and are located adjacent each to the other in a transverse direction (24). The paint roller brush (12) is reversibly rolled over the coil members (32) in the transverse direction (24) in order to allow the bristles of the roller brush (12) to contact the coil members (32). The coil members (32) deflect in a longitudinal direction (22), a transverse direction (24), and in a vertical direction to provide a complete wiping and cleaning of the roller brush (12).

  • Patent number: 4308634
Abstract: A brush bristle cleaning system (10) which includes a handle member (16) adapted to be held in one hand of a user. The handle member (16) passes in a longitudinal direction (18). A first wire element (20) extends in an arcuate closed contour and is secured to the first handle member (16) on one end thereof. A first helical wire element (24) defining a plurality of first helical loops (26) pass around a portion of the closed contour of the first wire element (20). A second wire element (30) which extends in the longitudinal direction (18) is secured to the handle member (16) on a first end and is secured to the first wire element (20) on a second end thereof. A second helical wire element (36) passes around the second wire element (30) and defines a plurality of second helical loops (38). A brush (12) having brush bristles (14) is either longitudinally moved or transversely contacted with the helical loops of (38) and (26) to provide a cleansing action for the bristles of (14).
