  • Publication number: 20220313488
Abstract: An apparatus, system and method of controlling the flow rate of an irrigation fluid. The apparatus, system and method include modifying a pressure gravitationally above the irrigation fluid in a fluid reservoir to increase the flow rate through a surgical pack by iteratively controlling infusion of gas to the fluid reservoir. The iteratively controlling comprises sensing an in-range response to said modifying, wherein the infusion of gas is enabled; and sensing an out-of-range response to said modifying. If, based on prior ones of said modifying: the out-of-range response poses no danger to a patient, the infusion of gas is enabled; the out-of-range response poses a substantial danger to the patient, the infusion of gas is disabled; or the out-of-range response poses no substantial danger to the patient, the iteratively controlling comprises applying a successive series of modifications to correct the out-of-range response.

  • Patent number: 10463780
Abstract: A system apparatus and method for determining fluid depletion in a surgical system. A surgical system may include a surgical console, display, a processor operatively coupled to the surgical console, and a surgical cassette in fluid communication with an irrigation source and an aspiration line. Certain techniques involve the processor determining a volume of fluid in the irrigation source. The processor may be configured to receive sensed measurements regarding a rate of fluid flow over time from the irrigation source, process the rate of fluid flow relative to the determined volume and produce a first signal for the display to indicate a remaining capacity of the volume of fluid. Warnings and/or alarms may be triggered if fluid volume falls below a predetermined threshold.

  • Patent number: 10349925
Abstract: The present invention pertains to programming a foot pedal and switches located therewith that is used with a medical device and/or medical device system. A user may select any switch or directional movement available on the foot pedal for programming by activating the switch and/or moving a treadle located on the foot pedal or by selecting a foot pedal feature on a display. The programming options available for the selected switch or directional movement are displayed on the display screen. Using the foot pedal, the display screen, voice command or combinations thereof, the user can navigate through different options to select one or more options and confirm the chosen option(s) for the particular switch or directional movement. The control and feel of the movement of the treadle and/or switch provides the user with the ability to program custom settings that suit the user's foot position(s) and/or particular style of surgery.
