  • Patent number: 5900561
Abstract: An acoustical guitar having a hollow main body forming a sound box and defined by top and bottom walls joined by a side rim. A long cantilevered neck is attached to the hollow main body adjacent a head end thereof and projects outwardly therefrom. A headblock arrangement at the head end fixedly attaches a heel end of the neck to the hollow main body. The headblock arrangement comprises a one-piece U-shaped headblock positioned between and fixedly connected to the top and bottom walls at the head end. The U-shaped headblock defines a concave recess which projects longitudinally inwardly of the hollow body at the head end. The neck projects into the concave recess with the heel end of the neck disposed within the recess and fixedly secured to the U-shaped headblock. A pair of access spaces are defined by the recess on opposite sides of the neck.

  • Patent number: 4450748
Abstract: This invention relates to a solid body stringed musical instrument which is adapted to reproduce the acoustical characteristics of a hollowed body acoustic stringed musical instrument. In particular, the invention provides a sealed cavity formed in the area of the body substantially underlying the bass side of the instrument bridge, this cavity permitting the bass side of the bridge to move and flex substantially more than the treble side of the bridge to reduce the instrument sustain in the bass register and to balance the sustain levels of the instrument.

  • Patent number: 4351217
Abstract: An improved guitar provided with a removable tailblock assembly which replaces the conventional fixed interior tailblock. The tailblock assembly includes a ringlike reinforcing member which is disposed in the interior of the guitar body and extends between the top and bottom walls, and is secured to the inner face of the curved end portions of the side walls at their junction. The end portions of the side walls have notches or openings formed therein which align with the opening in the reinforcing member. A ringlike insert is fixedly positioned within these latter openings, and is fixedly secured to the guitar body, such as to the side walls. This insert defines therethrough a large opening which is aligned with the longitudinal axis of the guitar body and provides convenient access to the interior thereof.
