Publication number: 20220335221Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, that facilitate automatic log identification of a set of fact-check factors from digital documents. Digital documents can be identified from a plurality of sources. For each digital document, a set of fact check factors are identified using a trained sequence Fact Checking tagging model. Based on the sequence tagging model, a confidence value representing a likelihood that the set of fact check factors identified from the digital document are an actual set of fact check factors for the digital document is determined. The set of fact check factors is stored in association with the digital document. A request for fact check factors for a particular digital document among the digital documents is received from a fact checking entity. In response, the set of fact check factors identified from the particular digital document are provided to the fact checking entity.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 21, 2019Publication date: October 20, 2022Inventors: Simon Baumgartner, Shan Jiang, Abraham P. Patent number: 9418061Abstract: Techniques for translating and presenting text in a structured document are provided. A structured document including text to be translated is received. At least one portion of the text to be translated is translated into at least one representation of translated text of a specific language. The translation is carried out in accordance with a prioritization schedule. Further, the representation of translated text is provided by at least first and second servers, the first server independently providing the representation of translated text of a first quality and the second server independently providing the representation of translated text of a second quality, the first quality being different than the second quality. As the text is translated, the representation of translated text is presented immediately when available.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2007Date of Patent: August 16, 2016Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Abraham P. Patent number: 8494127Abstract: An audio splitting system for sharing speech data associated with the same utterance between multiple speech technologies (consumers). In one aspect, the system comprises one or more queues for storing data, a plurality of consumers each sharing the data stored in the one or more queues and a scheduler for managing the storage of the data in the one or more queues and the consumption of the data in the one or more queues by each of the plurality of consumers. The consumers will register their data requirements and priority requests with the scheduler. The scheduler assigns each of the plurality of consumers to one or more of the queues based on the registered data requirements.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2006Date of Patent: July 23, 2013Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Abraham P. Patent number: 7218730Abstract: A system and method for signal analysis in a network. The method includes attempting, by a first processor, to compute optimal coefficients for filtering a signal, determining that computing the optimal coefficients exceeds the computational capabilities of the first processor, notifying a second processor that computing the optimal coefficients exceeds the computational capabilities of the first processor, and computing, by the second processor, the optimal coefficients. The system and method account for limited computational resources allocated to certain processors in a telecommunications system.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2003Date of Patent: May 15, 2007Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Abraham P. Patent number: 6580814Abstract: A system and method for building compressed biometric models and performing biometric identification using such models. The use of the compressed biometric models results in a significant decrease in the storage requirements for biometric models in conventional biometric systems. A given number of L reference biometric models are built. The L reference models are randomly divided into M subsets. During user enrollment, distance measurements between a temporary biometric model and each of the reference models in the M subsets are computed.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1998Date of Patent: June 17, 2003Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Abraham P. Patent number: 6333703Abstract: A system of mobile units are installed in multiple vehicles in traffic, the vehicles with mobile units being a sample of all vehicles in traffic. These mobile units include both wireless communications devices and apparatus that determines the location of each vehicle. Monitoring a vehicle's position as a function of time also reveals the velocity of the vehicle. Position and speed information is periodically broadcast by the vehicles to a central monitoring station and to neighboring vehicles. At the central monitoring station, the collective input from the sample set of vehicles is processed using statistical analysis methods to provide an instant chart of traffic conditions in the area, the accuracy of said chart being within a range determined by the size of the sample. Warnings of delays or updates on traffic conditions on the road ahead are then automatically returned to subscribers of the information or are used as part of an Intelligent Vehicle Highway System (IVHS).Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2000Date of Patent: December 25, 2001Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Neal J. Patent number: 5995590Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed that allows people to carry on unobtrusive phone conversations in business or other settings where it is either not possible or impolite to talk. In the system of FIG. 1, the telephone user one will listen in the same manner as with a regular telephone. However, he will not speak into the telephone microphone. User one instead employs a unit including a keyboard to enter the text corresponding to what he wants to say. The text is converted into a synthesized speech using TTS apparatus and a voice output is sent to the microphone of the phone apparatus. The telephone apparatus transmits the synthesized voice signal over a standard telephone line to a unit including a conventional telephone speaker 26 and telephone microphone. User two, the party using the telephone at the other end, listens to a synthesized voice, but user one listens to the actual voice of user two with the telephone speaker, unless user two is also using a system similar to that of user one.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 1998Date of Patent: November 30, 1999Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Peter Thomas Brunet, Abraham P. Patent number: 5732187Abstract: The memory and data management requirements for text independent speaker dependent recognition are drastically reduced by using a novel approach that eliminates the need for separate acoustic recognition models for each speaker. This is achieved by using speaker independent recognition models at the acoustic level. The speaker dependent data stored for each item to be recognized consists only of information needed to determine the speaker independent recognition model sequence for that item.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1996Date of Patent: March 24, 1998Assignee: Texas Instruments IncorporatedInventors: Jeffrey L. Patent number: 5452397Abstract: A method and system prevent the entry of confusingly similar phrases (60) in a vocabulary list (10) of a speaker-dependent voice recognition system. The method first receives (20, 30, 50) and enrolls the phrase (60) for adding to vocabulary list (10). Next, probabilities (62) are assigned to all phrases (12). Probabilities (62) assigned to already existing phrases are greater than the probability (64) assigned to the phrase (62) that the user wants to add. The phrase (60) to be added is received a second time and compared to the modified vocabulary list (61) that includes first-received phrase (60). Next, the method indicates whether the second-received phrase matches a phrase (12, 14, 16) on modified vocabulary list (61) other than first-received phrase (60).Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 1992Date of Patent: September 19, 1995Assignee: Texas Instruments IncorporatedInventors: Abraham P.
