  • Patent number: 12645814
Abstract: In some examples, an electronic device includes a port and a controller. The controller compares an encrypted identifier received via a side-band communications channel of the port to a trusted identifier retrieved from a storage device. Responsive to the encrypted identifier being equivalent to the trusted identifier, the controller compares an encrypted user credential received via the port to a trusted user credential retrieved from the storage device. Responsive to the encrypted user credential being equivalent to the trusted user credential, the controller enables a user access to the electronic device.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 30, 2021
Date of Patent: June 2, 2026
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Osaid Ahmed Shamsi, Roger D. Benson, Abu Baker, William P. Swaney

  • Patent number: 11474580
Abstract: In an example, a biometric sensor, includes a first communication interface to receive information associated with an enumeration of the biometric sensor from a host, a second communication interface, and input sensing circuitry to detect an input signal at the biometric sensor. The biometric sensor further includes a controller to, in response to detecting the input signal, transmit a message to wake up the host via the second communication interface, and in response to receiving an indication that a lid of the host has closed, control operation of the biometric sensor by placing the biometric sensor in a low power state.

  • Patent number: 10983627
Abstract: An example method includes sensing a first touch event on a touch sensitive surface of a computing device, where the first touch event is associated with a touch contact; and classifying the touch contact as being a finger contact or a palm contact based on biometric information. The method includes providing an input to the computing device based on the classification of the touch contact; and associating the first touch event with a time sequence of touch events that are associated with the touch contact. The method includes, based on a feature of the time sequence of touch events, selectively reclassifying the touch contact; and selectively changing the input based on a result of the selective reclassification of the touch contact.

  • Patent number: 10782825
Abstract: A method for distinguishing non-input contact with a touch-sensitive user input device includes converting an input frame from the touch-sensitive user input device to an input luminance frame; and filtering the input luminance frame, based on a base luminance frame, using a Wronskian function, the Wronskian function producing a filtered luminance frame, the filtered luminance frame distinguishing input contact from non-input contact with the touch-sensitive user input device.
