  • Publication number: 20140261579
Abstract: An endoscope washing assembly includes a hub and a shaft. The hub has an inner member and an outer member coupled to a fluid source. The shaft extends distally from the hub. The shaft includes a distal portion, a fluid channel, and a lumen. The distal portion of the shaft corresponds with a distal portion of an endoscope. The fluid channel extends from the hub to the distal portion of the shaft and provides fluid communication with a fluid source. The lumen extends through the shaft and is configured to receive the endoscope. A boss structure is positioned within the shaft and is configured to maintain a radial position of an endoscope relative to the first fluid channel. The shaft may provide both saline and suction to the distal end of the endoscope.

  • Publication number: 20140277059
Abstract: A dilation system includes a balloon catheter and a puncturing assembly. The balloon catheter includes a shaft, a dilator coupled to a distal end of the shaft, and a lumen extending through the shaft and the dilator. The dilator is expandable from a collapsed state to an expanded state. The puncturing assembly includes at least one cutting member. The puncturing assembly is positionable within the lumen of the balloon catheter or along an exterior of the shaft when the puncturing assembly is in a first position. The puncturing assembly transitions to a second position to puncture the lumen of the balloon catheter and/or to puncture the dilator, to thereby drain fluid from the dilator.

  • Publication number: 20140107427
Abstract: A medical device for the treatment and irrigation of a sinus opening is described. The device allows for single-handed operation to access, dilate and irrigate a sinus opening. The device includes a sinus guide catheter, a guiding element, a balloon dilation catheter, a balloon catheter movement mechanism and a guiding element movement mechanism. A method for treating a sinus opening and irrigating a sinus is also described.

  • Publication number: 20140094733
Abstract: The invention is a tympanic membrane pressure equalization tube. The tube has a distal end and a proximal end and a tube lumen. A medial flange is located at the distal end of the tube and has 2 or more retention elements and a space between each retention element. A lateral flange is located at the proximal end of the tube. The outside diameter of the medial flange is greater than the outside diameter of the lateral flange and the diameter of the medial flange is between about 2.0 and 5.0 mm and the diameter of the lateral flange is between about 1.75 mm and 4.0 mm.

  • Publication number: 20130303968
Abstract: Methods and devices for providing a gas pathway between the nasopharynx and the Eustachian tube are provided. One device may include a lumen with a valve. A portion of the valve may be tethered to adjacent muscle. Another portion of the valve may be tethered to adjacent cartilage. When the muscle contracts the valve may open through movement of the tethers, and provide a gas pathway between the nasopharynx and the Eustachian tube.

  • Publication number: 20130281982
Abstract: Implantable devices and methods for delivering drugs and other substances to locations within the body of a human or animal subject to treat or diagnose sinusitis and a variety of other disorders. The invention includes implantable substance delivery devices that comprise reservoirs and barriers that control the rate at which substances pass out of the reservoirs. The delivery devices may be advanced into the body using guidewires, catheters, ports, introducers and other access apparatus. In some embodiments the delivery devices may be loaded with one or more desired substance before their introduction into the body. In other embodiments the delivery devices are loaded and/or reloaded with a desired substance after the delivery device has been introduced into the body.

  • Publication number: 20130165873
Abstract: A method for irrigating a paranasal sinus may involve advancing a distal portion of a sinus irrigation catheter through an ostium of a paranasal sinus into the sinus and passing fluid through multiple ports disposed at different locations along a length of the catheter distal portion into the sinus. A flexible irrigation catheter device for irrigating a paranasal sinus may include: an elongate catheter body having a proximal end, a distal end, a lumen therebetween, and a tapered distal portion extending proximally from the distal end of the catheter body; a proximal hub coupled with the proximal end of the catheter body for connecting to a source of irrigation fluid; multiple side ports disposed along the catheter body closer to the distal end than the proximal end and in fluid communication with the lumen; and a distal end port at the distal end of the catheter body.

  • Publication number: 20130090544
Abstract: Systems and methods for treating a patient having a head with a first ear and a second car, function by mounting a support structure to the head of the patient; aligning the support structure with a target tissue in an ear canal of the first ear; stabilizing the support structure relative to the target tissue by injecting a material into the canal and hardening the material; and actuating a device while the device is supported by the support system so that the device therapeutically remodels the target tissue of the first ear.
