    Abstract: A cap for a container housing a consumer product, in the form of a device that is capable of diffusing a volatile substance inside the container. The device includes a cap liner element for carrying the volatile substance and a barrier element, which is lodged between the cap liner element and the interior of the container. The barrier element is formed of a membrane that is permeable to the vapors of the volatile substance but impermeable to the consumer product, so as to enable molecular diffusion of the volatile substance's vapors into the headspace above the consumer product when the container is closed.
