  • Patent number: 6808190
Abstract: A wheel suspension of a motor vehicle includes a wheel carrier which is connected to the vehicle body via wheel-guiding and wheel-steering components and which carries, by rolling-bearing mounting, at least one wheel via a wheel hub. For this purpose, the wheel carrier includes a vehicle-body-side and a wheel-side wheel-carrier part. The vehicle-body-side and the wheel-side wheel-carrier parts are connected via a sliding joint or pivot joint so as to be movable relative to one another, the wheel-carrier parts having a preferential position in relation to one another. The direction of relative movement between the vehicle-body-side and the wheel-side wheel-carrier part extends approximately in the direction of travel or in the opposite direction to the direction of travel. Moreover, between the wheel-carrier parts elements are arranged which reverse the joint movement and which return the wheel-carrier parts in the direction of the preferential position.

  • Patent number: 6053553
Abstract: A device for variable subdivision of a storage compartment, especially a trunk in an automobile, has partitions projecting upward from the storage compartment floor and connected with one another with articulation. Two of the partitions are articulated endwise to a storage compartment wall projecting vertically from the storage compartment floor and one partition is displaceable approximately at right angles to the storage compartment wall. To improve the functionality of the device so that it retains its selected spatial division reliably in all extended positions and remains safely secured to the storage compartment floor, a locking device is provided. The locking device acts between the displaceable partition and the floor of the storage compartment. The locking device has a lock on the partition side that is displaceably secured and operated manually, as well as a plurality of locking receptacles arranged in the displacement direction in a row in the floor of the storage compartment.

  • Patent number: 5100165
Abstract: The wheel carrier of an independent wheel suspension for steerable wheels of motor vehicles is pivotal about a steering axis which is so inclined that the steering point in a plan view on the wheel suspension is located outside of the point of contact of the wheel with the road. In order to prevent that with dynamic wheel load fluctuations about the steering axis, a moment pivoting the wheel carrier can occur which is customarily transmitted by way of the steering arm and steering tie-rod to the steering wheel and which has to be braced by muscle force, a wheel guide member is formed by two individual guide links which extend arrow-shaped in the direction toward the wheel carrier and are cardanically supported.

  • Patent number: 4744549
Abstract: A coil spring for a motor vehicle wheel suspension system having two spring segments spaced apart in the axial direction along the central spring axis and a reinforced connecting piece extending parallel to the central spring axis for connecting the two spring segments. The two spring segments and the connecting piece form a unitary structure.

  • Patent number: 4705292
Abstract: An independent wheel suspension for steerable wheels has a wheel bearer connected to the vehicle body and first and second guide wheel members. The first guide wheel member comprises separate guide links coupled at articulated points to the vehicle body and to the wheel bearer, and a coupler connected between the articulated points at the wheel bearer. The coupler transverses a bisector of an angle formed by the guide links and is angled rearwardly and inwardly from the wheel. This wheel suspension enables the castor distance to be increased at the wheel in a curve during wheel turning, while maintaining a specified basic arrangement for the guide links.

  • Patent number: 4561640
Abstract: In wheel suspensions of automotive vehicles, equipped with a wheel suspension system comprising a coil spring, a specific mutual association is required for functional reasons for the individual components of the wheel suspension, forcing constructional compromises in connection with the other structural conditions inherent in the design of the vehicle. In order to be able to avoid in such cases expensive compromise solutions, it is disclosed to have one or several vehicle components, to be correspondingly correlated with the coil spring, project in between turn portions of a spring turn that has a larger lead as compared with the regular lead of the coil spring, or pass such components through the expanded spring section of the coil spring.
