  • Patent number: 11959682
Abstract: A refrigeration appliance includes at least one warm storage compartment and one cold storage compartment and a refrigeration device having at least two mutually parallel evaporators connected in series with a compressor, a condenser, and a shut-off valve between the condenser and evaporators in a refrigerant circuit so that each evaporator cools one storage compartment. An operating method for the refrigeration appliance includes the steps a) deciding whether a need for cooling has newly occurred in the warm storage compartment, and, if so, b) operating the compressor while the shut-off valve is closed to cause refrigerant to back up in the condenser, c) opening the shut-off valve and supplying the evaporator of the warm storage compartment with the backed up refrigerant. In step b) the mass flow rate through the compressor is estimated and the time for performing step c) is determined by using the estimated mass flow rate.

  • Patent number: 10801759
Abstract: A domestic refrigeration appliance has a heat-insulated housing with a coolable inner container delimiting a coolable interior for storing foods. The interior is cooled with a coolant circuit that includes a compressor with a three-phase motor operated by an actuator via electrically powered motor windings. The actuator is actuated at least indirectly to operate the compressor in a switched-on state with a rotational speed of the three-phase motor at least approximately equal to a predetermined rotational speed. The actuator is caused to switch off the compressor such that the rotational speed of the three-phase motor decreases to a predetermined minimum rotational speed, and thereafter to switch off the three-phase motor for at least a predetermined period of time by de-energizing the motor windings. The period of time is selected long enough to reduce the speed of the motor, beginning from the minimum rotational speed, to reach standstill.

  • Patent number: 10488086
Abstract: A domestic refrigeration appliance includes an insulated body with a coolable container delimiting a coolable space for food, a refrigerant circuit having a coolant and a compressor for cooling the space, and an electronic control apparatus and an electric drive with a three-phase AC synchronous motor and a control element or inverter for activating the motor. The compressor includes a chamber with an inlet and with an outlet, a piston mounted displaceably within the chamber, a crankshaft and the motor. The motor has a number of pole pairs greater than 1, a stator and a rotor mounted rotatably relative to the stator and coupled to the piston by the crankshaft. During compressor operation, the motor causes the piston to reduce the size of a volume enclosed by the compressor chamber and the piston to compress the coolant. A method for operating a domestic refrigeration appliance is also provided.

  • Patent number: 10386104
Abstract: A domestic refrigeration device and a method for operating a domestic refrigeration device. The domestic refrigeration device has a heat-insulated body with a coolable inner container which delimits a coolable interior provided for storing food. A coolant circuit is provided for cooling the coolable interior and includes a compressor and a field-oriented electric drive. The field-oriented electric drive has a field-oriented controller, a converter, and a permanently excited synchronous motor which is connected downstream of the converter and which is part of the compressor or is provided for driving the compressor.

  • Patent number: 10284122
Abstract: A compressor of a refrigeration appliance includes a motor, in particular a BLDC motor, and a controller for stopping the motor. The controller is configured to slow down the motor rotating in a first rotating direction until it comes to a standstill and to subsequently position the rotor relative to the stator, in a second rotating direction with a predetermined torque. A method for stopping a compressor of a refrigeration appliance is also provided.

  • Patent number: 10174980
Abstract: A method is provided for braking a compressor of a refrigeration appliance, of an air conditioning appliance or of a heat pump in which the compressor has a brushless motor with windings and a controller for braking the motor. The controller is configured to brake the brushless motor by using a braking current in a controlled manner starting from an operating rotational speed, in which the braking current during the controlled braking is dependent on induced voltages determined before the controlled braking. The method for braking includes rotating the motor at an operating rotational speed, receiving a signal for decelerating, braking or slowing down, determining voltages induced in the windings and supplying a braking current having a decreasing frequency to the windings, in which the braking current during the braking is dependent on the previously determined induced voltages. A compressor and a refrigeration appliance having the compressor are also provided.
