  • Patent number: 11239622
Abstract: A system for connecting wires of an electrical cable harness to an electrical connector includes a base that defines a base plane and is configured to support a connector. The system also includes a guiding device having first and second moveable gripping portions. The first and second gripping portions cooperate to define one or more channels that extend perpendicularly to the base plane and are configured to receive one or more wire ends for insertion. An inner surface of the first gripping portion is parallel with a corresponding inner surface of the second gripping portion and an outer surface of the first gripping portion is nonparallel with a corresponding outer surface of the second gripping portion. The system further includes a robotic arm configured to move the guiding device relative to the base while the one or more channels remain perpendicular to the base plane.

  • Patent number: 10396520
Abstract: A method for calibrating a mounting-device used for automatically mounting a contact-part attached to an electrical line with a connector-housing includes the steps of providing the mounting-device, marking a plurality of marking-points, capturing an image of the plurality of marking-points, and determining the positions of the plurality of marking-points. The mounting-device comprises a holder for the connector-housing, a positioning-device that includes a moveable-gripper that includes a marking-device, a camera configured to capture an image of a portion of the holder, and a control unit in communication with the positioning-device, the camera, and the moveable-gripper. The control unit determines the positions of the marking-points based on the image. The positions are indicative of an actual insertion-position of the contact-part into the connector-housing by the moveable-gripper. The control unit stores the positions of the marking-points in a memory of the control unit.

  • Publication number: 20190237927
Abstract: A method of connecting wires to a connector comprises the steps of securing the connector onto a base and loading a connecting sequence onto the controller of a guiding device. Each step of the connecting sequence includes a location of a connector cavity. The method further includes the steps of repairing a plurality of wires that each correspond to the respective steps of the connecting sequence, starting the connecting sequence to move the guiding device to align a channels with a cavity that corresponds to the first step of the connecting sequence, and repeating the following steps until the end of the connecting sequence, manually guiding each of the ends of the wire through a corresponding channel of the guiding device and into the cavity to electrically connect the wire to the connector, releasing the wire from the guiding device, and automatically aligning the channel of the guiding device with the cavity corresponding to the next step of the connecting sequence.
