  • Patent number: 6422663
Abstract: A system for regulating braking power in a braking system with self-acting brake intervention wherein the wheels at the front and rear axles are stopped in the event that the vehicle is parked. The braking power (BVA) at the wheels of the front axle is reduced during a steering operation, in order to reduce the steering power. At the same time, the braking power (BHA) at the rear axle of the vehicle is increased, in order to safely hold the vehicle in a parked position.

  • Patent number: 6279692
Abstract: The parking brake of a vehicle is operated by a power-generating generating actuating unit 4. For maintaining the function of the parking brake in the event of a failure of the power operating device 1, an emergency operating device 2 is provided which can be operated by muscle force. Both operating devices 1, 2 have mechanical transmissions 5, 12 which act upon a common threaded spindle 3 for tensioning and releasing the parking brake. By way of the mutual self-locking design of the mechanical transmission 5, 12 which depends on the type of operation, it is achieved that both operating modes (power or muscle force) can be carried out in any sequence and without any limitation of the adjusting path(s).

  • Patent number: 6256568
Abstract: A motor vehicle having an electronically controlled automatic transmission, which comprises a parking position, and a power parking brake. The parking position and the power parking brake are operable independently of one another. A redundant system is provided in that a device checks the parking position as well as the power parking brake with respect to its optional functioning and, in the event of an operating failure of one system, operates the respective other system to take over the function of the failed system.

  • Patent number: 6053581
Abstract: A process and a system for briefly stopping a vehicle which utilizes a secondary brake circuit. In the present case, the problem is to be solved that the vehicle operator must exercise high brake holding forces in a stopped condition and, because of a constant slip stick effect, there will be a brake creaking. This object is achieved in that a braking intervention is carried out by an external power or secondary brake circuit when the vehicle speed falls below a defined limit value and an active braking intervention by the vehicle operator takes place beyond a given first rate, the operation of the brake pedal being continuously monitored by the vehicle operator.

  • Patent number: 6019436
Abstract: A motor vehicle parking brake system which is operated by non-muscular energy, includes both by a hydraulic pressure generator and by an electromechanical control unit. A control unit ensures that the switch between hydraulic and electromechanical operation is made as a function of the operating state of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5916062
Abstract: The invention relates to a process and a system for aiding a starting movement of a vehicle. Problems occur particularly when starting on a hill or on a steeply sloping road because it is difficult or impossible for the vehicle operator to simultaneously release the foot brake pedal and operate the accelerator pedal and thus provide an engine torque necessary for the corresponding starting operation. It is an object of the invention to provide a process and a system for aiding a starting movement of a vehicle by means of which the starting movement can be carried out without problems and in an uncomplicated manner and without endangering other traffic participants. In the process and system according to the invention, this is achieved in that the rest position of the vehicle is ensured by means of a braking intervention by way of an external power or secondary brake circuit if the braking force exercised by the vehicle operator is not sufficient.
