  • Publication number: 20250103158
Abstract: Computing devices, touchpads, and related methods for adjusting a force threshold for touch input on a touchpad are disclosed. In one example, a computing device comprises a force sensing touchpad, a processor, and a memory storing instructions executable by the processor to receive a first contact on the touchpad. An area of touch of the first contact is determined, and an adjusted force threshold for touch input is determined based at least on the area of the touch. A second contact is received on the touchpad, and a touch force of the second contact is determined. Based at least on determining that the touch force exceeds the adjusted force threshold, a touch input on the touchpad is registered.

  • Patent number: 12260044
Abstract: An apparatus and method for compensating the effect of a contact by a hand or other body part of a user with a touch screen while holding an input device on the strength of a capacitively coupled uplink signal provided to the input device by a host device, by detecting and/or discriminating the body touch and modifying at least one uplink channel parameter.

  • Publication number: 20250093980
Abstract: A computing device comprises a touch sensing touchpad, a processor, and memory storing instructions to detect contacts at the touchpad over a plurality of frames of data. At each frame a measured coordinate and a current plurality of characteristics of the contacts are determined. The current plurality of characteristics of a current frame are compared to characteristics of an immediately prior frame. Where at least one of the comparisons satisfies a corresponding threshold, a coordinate jump is detected between the current frame and the immediately prior frame. Based at least on detecting the coordinate jump, a current frame intermediate coordinate value is set to an immediately prior frame intermediate coordinate value of the immediately prior frame, and a smoothing filter is applied to the immediately prior frame intermediate coordinate value to generate a smoothed immediately prior frame intermediate coordinate value, which is outputted.

  • Publication number: 20250022095
Abstract: Computing devices and methods of upscaling video data are disclosed. In one example a method of upscaling video data comprises generating first resolution video data comprising a plurality of tiles that each comprise a plurality of pixels. The method determines whether a first tile of the plurality of tiles matches a previously-received version of the first tile. At least on condition that the first tile does not match the previously-received version of the first tile, the first tile is upscaled from a first resolution to a second resolution greater than the first resolution. The method determines whether a second tile of the plurality of tiles matches a previously-received version of the second tile. At least on condition that the second tile matches the previously-received version of the second tile, the method refrains from upscaling the second tile from the first resolution to the second resolution.

  • Publication number: 20240085995
Abstract: An apparatus and method for adapting a conversion of a force or pressure sensed at a stylus into a converted output used for an inking process at a host device, wherein samples of the converted output are collected over a predetermined time period. Then, the collected samples are evaluated and at least one parameter of the conversion is controlled in response to a result of the evaluation. Thereby, a user-specific probability distribution of the sensed force or pressure can be matched to a desired probability distribution of the inking process.

  • Patent number: 11294481
Abstract: Signals are transmitted from a plurality of regions of an electronic device. Location information is then received from an electronic pen in proximity to the electronic device. The location information is determined by the electronic pen and corresponds to a location of the electronic pen relative to the screen of the electronic device. The location information is determined using one or more of the transmitted signals received by the electronic pen. Aa display on the screen of the electronic device is controlled based at least in part on the received location information. A more efficient pen operating state is thereby provided that improves the user experience by more accurately and reliably determining the pen location in space.
