  • Publication number: 20230279589
Abstract: An interactive cord can include a plurality of non-conductive lines and a plurality of conductive lines arranged together in a first longitudinal portion to form a touch-sensitive area within a first longitudinal portion of the interactive cord. A non-touch-sensitive area can be formed in a second longitudinal portion such in which the plurality of conductive lines is not exposed along an outer surface of the outer layer. The plurality of conductive lines can be arranged together with the one or more of the plurality of non-conductive lines within a third longitudinal portion. The second longitudinal portion can be arranged between the first longitudinal portion and the third longitudinal portion with respect to a longitudinal direction of the interactive cord. The third longitudinal portion can be open along the longitudinal direction to form a pair longitudinal edges of the outer layer that extend in the longitudinal direction of the interactive cord.

  • Patent number: 11564421
Abstract: Systems and methods for interactive objects including illuminated surfaces are provided. An interactive object includes a flexible substrate comprising a soft material that is non-transmissive to light. The interactive object includes a plurality of holes extending from an inside surface of the flexible substrate to an outside surface of the flexible substrate to form a light-transmissive pattern at one or more locations of the flexible substrate. An illuminated surface is positioned adjacent to the inside surface of the flexible substrate with its front surface extending along at least a portion of the inside surface of the flexible substrate at the one or more locations including the plurality of holes. The interactive object includes one or more electronic components electrically coupled to the illuminated surface to control the illuminated surface to provide a visual output.

  • Publication number: 20220056762
Abstract: An interactive window treatment can include an interactive cord. The interactive cord can include a plurality of non-conductive lines; a plurality of conductive lines arranged together with one or more of the plurality of non-conductive lines to form a touch-sensitive area and a non-touch-sensitive area along the interactive cord. The interactive object can include at least one processor and at least one tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium that stores instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform operations. The operations can include detecting a user gesture using one or more of the plurality of conductive lines. The interactive cord can be connected with an upper attachment point at a first end of the interactive cord.

  • Patent number: 10436919
Abstract: Nuclear reactors are emitters of a fundamental particle known as an antineutrino. The antineutrinos emitted as a result of nuclear fission reactions inside a reactor core carry information about those fission reactions. To detect the antineutrinos emitted by the nuclear reactor, the exemplary detector detects a positron event followed by a neutron event. The exemplary detector can also reconstruct the direction of the detected neutron to remove events produced by cosmogenic fast neutrons from the neutrons generated by the nuclear fission.

Date of Patent: October 8, 2019
Assignee: Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC

  • Patent number: 8373133
Abstract: A water Cerenkov-based neutron and high energy gamma ray detector and radiation portal monitoring system using water doped with a Gadolinium (Gd)-based compound as the Cerenkov radiator. An optically opaque enclosure is provided surrounding a detection chamber filled with the Cerenkov radiator, and photomultipliers are optically connected to the detect Cerenkov radiation generated by the Cerenkov radiator from incident high energy gamma rays or gamma rays induced by neutron capture on the Gd of incident neutrons from a fission source. The PMT signals are then used to determine time correlations indicative of neutron multiplicity events characteristic of a fission source.
