Abstract: A method for fabricating an optical waveguide comprises: providing a sample of lithium niobate doped with magnesium oxide and having at least one grating of periodic domain inversion defined therein; applying a layer of metallic zinc to a surface of the sample over the at least one grating using sputter deposition; heating the sample in an atmosphere of pure oxygen to cause the zinc to indiffuse into the lithium niobate to form a waveguiding layer of increased refractive index under the surface of the sample; and using a dicing blade to cut two substantially parallel channels along a length direction of the at least one grating, to define a ridge waveguide between the two channels.

Abstract: This invention relates to antibodies that bind to and inhibit the activity of glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor family receptor alpha like (GFRAL) protein. The invention also relates to the GDF15-GFRAL signalling pathway as a therapeutic target for states of cachexia and conditions involving reduction in food intake and reduction in muscle and fat mass.

Abstract: A device for cleaning the tracks of a track-driven vehicle comprising a mounting plate, at least one positioning arm connected to and extending from the mounting plate, and at least one brush assembly attached to and extending from a positioning arm, where the mounting plate, positioning arm, and brush assembly are configured so that when the mounting plate is mounted to a vehicle the brush is positioned to clean the track of the vehicle.
