  • Publication number: 20240101780
Abstract: Disclosed are hierarchical buoyant materials comprising porous components having multiple length scales that provide reduced density, higher strength, and improved buoyancy. The hierarchical buoyant materials include components having at least two length scales including a first porous material having elements characterized by a first linear length scale and a second porous material having elements characterized by a second linear length scale. The first porous material includes hollow microspheres, and the second porous material provides low effective density via geometrical arrangements. The second linear length scale is substantially different than the first linear length scale in terms of size, e.g., diameter, length, or distance.

  • Patent number: 11930267
Abstract: An electronic device may be provided with control circuitry, wireless transceiver circuitry, and a display. The electronic device may be used to provide information to a user in response to being pointed at a particular object. The control circuitry may determine when the electronic device is pointed at a particular object using wireless control circuitry and/or motion sensor circuitry. In response to determining that the electronic device is pointed at a particular object, the control circuitry may take suitable action. This may include, for example, displaying information about an object when the electronic device is pointed at the object, displaying control icons for electronic equipment when the electronic device is pointed at the electronic equipment, and/or displaying a virtual object when the electronic device is pointed at real world object.

  • Publication number: 20230394339
Abstract: An experiment design is determined for a plurality of physical experiment entities, based on a training loss that is dependent on a critic function and an action parameter individually associated with each physical experiment entity, with the aim of increasing (e.g., optimizing) information gain with respect to a plurality of test entities. The training loss encodes a predicted information gain between a predicted experiment outcome and a predicted test quantity. The predicted experiment outcome associated therewith is sampled from a joint probability distribution based on an entity context. A numerical output is computed using the critic function applied to the predicted experiment outcome and the predicted test quantity.

  • Publication number: 20230229906
Abstract: A computer-implemented method comprising: accessing a machine learning, ML, model that is operable to sample a causal graph from a graph distribution describing different possible graphs, wherein nodes represent the different variables of said set and edges represent causation, and the graph distribution comprises a matrix of probabilities of existence and causal direction of potential edges between pairs of nodes, and wherein the ML model is trained to be able to generate a respective simulated value of a selected variable from among said set based on the sampled causal graph. The method further comprises using the ML model to estimate a treatment effect from one or more intervened-on variables on another, target variable from among the variables of said set.

  • Patent number: 10900324
Abstract: A sliding sleeve apparatus that has a flow inhibitor that slows the fluid flow between the interior passageway of the sliding sleeve and the well annulus to allow pressure equalization between the interior passageway of the sliding sleeve and the well annulus to occur prior to placing the sliding sleeve in a fully open position. The inhibited or restricted fluid flow reduces wear on the seals and other components of the sliding sleeve, which extends the operative life of the tool.

  • Patent number: 10664587
Abstract: An authorization level is set at enrollment. Initiation information for a user of a device is provided during enrollment to an entity for authentication. The entity can be associated with a class defined by an ability of the entity to verify user identity. Verification data is received from the entity associated with user authentication. An authorization level is selected based on the verification data. An enrollment token is then generated that includes the authorization level that defines security parameters for the device.
