  • Patent number: 7840714
Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention is a technique to map pins on an interface connector to signals for a digital display. A first group of signal traces maps transmitter differential pairs pins in a first group of lanes on the interface connector compatible with a first interface standard to video output points corresponding to video output signals of a first video port compatible with a second interface standard. A second group of signal traces maps presence detect pins in the first group of lanes on the interface connector to control signal points corresponding to control signals of the first video port compatible with the second interface standard. A third group of signal traces maps receiver differential pairs pins in the first group of lanes on the interface connector to video input points corresponding to video input signals of the first video port compatible with the second interface standard.

  • Patent number: 7353372
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide detection, enumeration, and software configuration of optional choice of add-in cards types through a multiplexed bus interface. The PROM allows identification of the add-in device and software configuration to adapt to support it. In particular, plug and play detection of digital display codec devices and display and integration of software and firmware support for devices inside the add-in card are provided for.

  • Patent number: 7345689
Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention is a technique to interface a display card through an interface connector. A video output device on the display card generates digital video output signals from a graphics chipset on a motherboard. The card is plugged into an interface connector on the motherboard. The interface connector is compatible with a first interface standard. The video output device is compatible to a second interface standard. A card detector is coupled to the video output device and the interface connector to enable the video output device if the graphics chip set supports the video output device.

  • Patent number: 6724389
Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus to map first graphics pins into second graphics pins. A first plurality of data and command pins corresponding to data and command signals in a first graphics mode is mapped into a second plurality of data and command pins corresponding to data and command signals in a second graphics mode. The first and second graphics modes are supported by a first chipset. The second graphics mode is supported by a second chipset. A detector pin strappable to a logic level to indicate an external graphics card is used in the first graphics mode is mapped into a first pin corresponding to a first signal of the second graphics mode. The first signal is ignored by the second chipset during initialization.
