Abstract: A portable storage unit includes an integrated mounting system and a rugged, weatherproof design that facilitates transport. The rigid main body of the storage unit includes a bottom cover having a bottom surface with a recessed central region positioned between adjacent side regions that extends between top and bottom surfaces of the main body and facilitates mounting the storage unit to a tree or other mounting structure. A top cover has a lip that extends over an edge of the bottom cover and a gasket creates an airtight and watertight seal therebetween. At least one hinge couples the rigid top cover to the rigid bottom cover and an anchoring member coupled to a top surface of the main body. Accessory panels provide attachment points for storage on exterior and interior surfaces of the storage unit.

The door assembly includes a door plate coupleable to at least one hinge assembly, the door plate having a first portion and a second portion extending outward from the first portion. The door assembly also includes a door panel having a recess formed in an inward-facing surface thereof, the recess sized to receive the door plate. A plurality of magnets are inset within the inward-facing surface of the door panel adjacent the recess and are magnetically coupled to the door plate. According to various embodiments, the door plate may have a substantially L-shaped or C-shaped configuration.

Another method of casting including coating at least a portion of a mold with a non-porous coating, placing a first fill tube in a material, applying a vacuum to a second fill tube to establish a vacuum within the non-porous coating, and allowing atmospheric pressure to inject the material into the mold without placing the mold in a chamber capable of inducing pressure.
