  • Patent number: 8424223
Abstract: According to one aspect, the shoe sole (10) comprises at least one main ground engagement section (22) specifically designed to respond to certain modes of solicitation by the foot of the player. Such section is provided with a sculpted pattern having recesses (102) and solid areas (100). The recesses and solid areas are distributed to minimize pressures or stress differences throughout the ground engagement section concerned so as to provide better adherence and lower wear by abrasion in response to such mode of solicitations. Preferably this arrangement is applied to more than one main ground engagement section (22, 24, 42, 44) in the shoe sole, each of which offers a specific response to a particular mode of solicitation by a player in action. According to a preferred embodiment the recesses are made of elongated cells opening (102) in a corresponding solid area through an elongated aperture (101) with rounded ends (108). The application of these principles to the production of a tennis shoe is described.

  • Publication number: 20130037189
Abstract: Tread for a tyre for a two-wheel vehicle improving grip when running on a usage surface liable to become slippery; this tread comprising blocks (1, 2, 3) separated from one another by grooves (4), each block comprising a contact face (10, 20, 30) intended to come into contact with the usage surface as the tyre is running and lateral faces intersecting the contact face to form edge corners delimiting a contour of the contact face having a geometric shape with at least three branches, each branch (11, 21, 31) ending in a point (110, 210, 310) the angle of which is at least equal to 20 degrees and at most equal to 90 degrees, the branches (11, 21, 31) of each block (1, 2, 3), considered two by two, between them determining setback parts (12, 22, 32), each block (1, 2, 3) being provided with slits (111, 112, 113; 211, 212, 213; 311, 312, 313) terminating at one of their ends in one of the setbacks formed on the face of the block and at a same location at their other end so as to create elementary patterns compris

  • Patent number: 8371969
Abstract: A ball-striking sole for a table tennis paddle comprises a flexible coating (118) of elastic material, one face (135) of which is lined with elastically deformable pimples (120) which protrude from said face. The cross section of said pimples is greater in their region (122) of attachment to this coating than in the region close to their opposite end (124) and the side wall (125) of these pimples has a concave curved profile over at least a part of the height of the pimple between these two regions. This sole is used particularly successfully in a table tennis paddle in which the face of said sole (112) lined with pimples (120) is directed towards the inner side of the blade (115) of the paddle such that the free ends (124) of the pimples, the lateral surface of which has a concave curved profile (125), are pressed against a layer (126) of elastic material, secured to the blade, the modulus of elasticity of which is much lower than that of the elastic coating (118) of the sole.

  • Publication number: 20110247237
Abstract: Footwear with a sole formed from an elastomeric material whose grip is improved on ground where the interface may include an intermediate foreign substance, this sole comprising lugs (31) separated from each other by grooves (35). The walls of the grooves (35) are cut into the thickness of the elastomeric material and delimit patterns with sharp angles in the profile of said lugs (31) which can pierce said foreign substance to establish direct dry contact between the two surfaces. Each lug (31) forms a star-shaped pattern having at least five arms in the form of stems (32) distributed over its, profile and each stem (32) is orientated radially towards the outside of the pattern and terminates in an end. Each stem (32) is separated from its neighbor by a recess (38) in the profile of the lug. Finally, each lug (31) has a stem (32) engaged in a space of the adjacent groove (35) which is delimited by a recess (38) between two neighboring stems in the profile of a second lug neighboring the first lug.
