  • Patent number: 10874573
Abstract: An extremity support system comprising a board having an upper surface that supports a resilient member. The board has a curved portion that facilitates it to pivot when connected to a table or bed. It also has a plurality of openings for holding a plurality of straps that can be positioned over the resilient member. The resilient member also includes a rounded end for facilitating the board to pivot; and a top furrow that supports and provides access to an extremity extending off the surface of the table or bed of a patient laying in a plurality of positions. In addition, the straps have methods of placement to function as non-occlusive non-obstructive guardrails that maintain the extremity in the furrow of the resilient member, do not interfere with the ability of the board to pivot, and do not touch the extremity under usual circumstances thereby preventing injuries to an arm or a leg.

  • Patent number: 7441293
Abstract: One embodiment comprises a set of three stacked cushions to support a lower shoulder and both extended arms of a patient in a lateral and semi-lateral position on a bed. A bottom cushion has a flat compressible surface to support the patient's lower shoulder and a middle cushion. Smaller middle and top cushions stack on the bottom cushion. The middle and top cushions each comprises a top surface with a furrow for support and access to the arms. In addition, the middle and top cushions have cut-off corners that provide access to the person's nasopharyngeal cavities.

  • Patent number: 7270672
Abstract: A knot placer has a rod (10) connecting a handle end (11) to a working end (12). The working end (12) has a closed leg eyelet (15) and a slit leg eyelet (16). A slidable knot (27), formed from a pair of ends of surgical suture (25a) and (25b) is used to join a patient's tissue. The knot (27) can be transferred through an access port (21) and tightened at a surgical site (26) by threading each respective suture end (25a) and (25b) into each eyelet (15) and (16), grasping the handle end (11), and pushing the slidable knot (27) to the surgical site (26) during an endoscopic surgery. Subsequently, the knot placer can be pulled out of the access port (21), and the slit eyelet (16) can release its respective suture end (25a) or (25b) through the slit (19). Another slidable knot (27) can be tied.

  • Patent number: 7017215
Abstract: A bottom cushion (12) and a top cushion (13) are rectangular and have top furrows so that when stacked they can support and provide access to the arms generally perpendicular to a patient lying on their side. In addition the bottom cushion (12) and the top cushion (13) have cut-off corners (21, 22 and 31, 32), respectively, which align to provide access to the nasal and oral cavities during surgical procedures performed in these positions.
