  • Publication number: 20230090303
Abstract: In one aspect, a portable electronic device is provided for accessing a secured area to deliver a package therein. The portable electronic device includes a sensor configured to detect an indicium of the package and communication circuitry configured to communicate a message to a server computer associated with the package upon the sensor detecting the indicium. The communication circuitry is further configured to receive delivery information from the server computer, the delivery information including at least a location of the secured area. The portable electronic device further includes a processor operatively coupled to the sensor and the communication circuitry. The processor is configured to cause, via the communication circuitry, the movable barrier operator to open a movable barrier associated with the secured area.

  • Patent number: 11610444
Abstract: In one aspect, a remote server computer is provided for facilitating operation of movable barrier operator systems having imminent motion notification apparatuses. The remote server computer includes a processor, a memory, and a network interface for communicating state change commands to the movable barrier operator systems via a network. The remote server computer is configured to receive a confirmation indicating that a sensor check has been performed to test sensors of those systems. Upon receiving a state change request from a remote control associated with a movable barrier operator system, the processor may determine whether the confirmation has been received for that system, and if so, causes communication of an attended command signal that inhibits operation of an imminent motion notification apparatus of the movable barrier operator system. Otherwise, the remote server computer may communicate an unattended command signal.

  • Publication number: 20230068611
Abstract: A method is provided for operating a movable barrier operator system in connection with a delivery. The method includes, at the movable barrier operator system, receiving a delivery open command and moving a movable barrier from a closed position to an open position. The method further includes identifying a delivery timer value based at least in part upon the delivery open command, operating a timer using the delivery timer value, and moving the movable barrier from the open position toward the closed position upon expiration of the timer.

  • Patent number: 9099910
Abstract: A motor is configured to operate in one of at least two modes in response to determining that a power provided by a power supply for the motor crosses certain thresholds. For example, first and second windings apply a rotating force to a rotating armature of a single motor. The first and second windings are electrically coupled to first and second commutators, respectively, which transmit power to the first and second windings from a first and second power source, respectively. In other aspects, different power sources power the motor, and the motor operates at different speeds depending on the power source applied. For example, the change in power sources is effected in response to detecting a change in applied power past a threshold, thus effecting the motor's operation in a second, different speed. So configured, a single motor can reduce deployment of bulky and expensive add-on equipment.
