  • Patent number: 8725481
Abstract: A computer implemented system and method for parallel adaptive data partitioning on a reservoir simulation using an unstructured grid includes a method of simulating a reservoir model which includes generating the reservoir model. The generated reservoir model is partitioned into multiple sets of different domains, each one corresponding to an efficient partition for a specific portion of the model.

  • Publication number: 20130204922
Abstract: An embodiment provides a method for managing a hydrocarbon asset. The method includes creating an interactive community of agents, wherein each agent comprises code and functional data structures configured to direct a processor to access resource on a network. At least one of the agents is configured to be a workflow agent, wherein the work-flow agent is configured to pursue a plan to accomplish a goal. The work-flow agent is provided with sensors to determine environmental conditions. The workflow agent is provided with the ability to communicate with other intelligent agents. The workflow agent is configured to select the plan based, at least in part, on information obtained from the sensors.

  • Publication number: 20130110485
Abstract: There is provided a system and method for determining interwell communication in a hydrocarbon-producing field that has a plurality of wells. An exemplary method comprises determining communication relationships for the plurality of wells using a multivariate dynamic joint analysis algorithm based on data representing properties of each of the plurality of wells. The multivariate dynamic joint analysis algorithm may employ a self-response of each of the plurality of wells and an interwell response between combinations of the plurality of wells. Data representative of the communication relationships is provided.

  • Publication number: 20120158389
Abstract: The present techniques disclose methods and systems for rapidly evaluating multiple models using multilevel surrogates (for example, in two or more levels). These surrogates form a hierarchy in which surrogate accuracy increases with its level. At the highest level, the surrogate becomes an accurate model, which may be referred to as a full-physics model (FPM). The higher level surrogates may be used to efficiently train the low level surrogates (more specifically, the lowest level surrogate in most applications), reducing the amount of computing resources used. The low level surrogates are then used to evaluate the entire parameter space for various purposes, such as history matching, evaluating the performance of a hydrocarbon reservoir, and the like.

  • Publication number: 20100082142
Abstract: A method and system are described that enhance the computational simulation, such as a fluid flowing through a porous media, under the present techniques. In particular, a computer implemented simulation method is described that includes initializing a simulator and utilizing an intelligent performance assistant to select a set of parameters and algorithms for the simulator. Then, equations are solved with the set of parameters and algorithms and the solution to the equations is then obtained.
