  • Patent number: 11974728
Abstract: Provided are methods of immunizing a viewport of a medical device against fogging before or during a medical procedure, and related apparatuses and devices. The methods comprise applying plasma to the viewport prior to use, thereby rendering a surface of the viewport highly hydrophilic. The methods eliminate or at least significantly reduce blur due to fogging.

  • Publication number: 20240138664
Abstract: A device for inhibiting condensation distortion on an optical element of a medical instrument configured for insertion into a body cavity is provided. The device may include a housing; a cavity within the housing, the cavity being sized to removably retain at least a portion of the medical instrument therein, wherein the portion includes the optical element; a plasma activation zone within the cavity and arranged such that when the at least a portion of the medical instrument is retained within the cavity, the optical element is located within the plasma activation zone; a plasma generator configured to be activated to cause formation of a plasma cloud in the plasma activation zone in a vicinity of the optical element; and a controller configured to activate the plasma generator for a time period sufficient to cause the optical element to become hydrophilic prior to insertion into the body cavity.

  • Patent number: 10352563
Abstract: The present invention concerns a flame detector with optical sensors situated within a housing, which is coupled to a signal collector and focuser enclosure. The enclosure includes a reflective surface or reflective surfaces generally oriented outwardly and in optical communication with the sensors through a shield window exposing the sensors; the shield window is situated between the enclosure and the housing of the flame detector. The enclosure may have a conical shape, a parabolic shape, and may include convex or concave surfaces that reflect emission signals from an emission signal source to the sensors in optical communication with the reflective surfaces. The enclosure is thus adapted to collect emission signals and narrow or focus a field of view of the sensors, thereby increasing a detection range between the flame detector and an emission signal source such as a flame source.

  • Publication number: 20070017026
Abstract: A collapsible hammock support is disclosed which comprises a pair of generally parallel horizontal support members, each having connected thereto at each end thereof a pair of upright support members. Each upright support member is connected to one of the horizontal support member by pivoting support member connecting means. The upright support members are each connected to one other upright support member at their upper ends by a pivoting upright support connecting means. Each pivoting upright support connecting means further includes a swiveling hook. In use, the hammock support is removed from a nylon carrying bag in its collapsed position, and the horizontal support members are laid onto a flat surface. Then the upright support members are pivoted up and away from the horizontal support members, and the horizontal support members are pulled away from each other, putting the hammock support is a fully extended position.
