Abstract: A system for controlling ambient light effects comprises a receiving device including at least one processor programmed to parse incoming video content to detect at least one portion of the incoming video content and determine at least one ambient light effect to be associated with the portion of the video content. The system further comprises a home automation controller in communication with the processor and at least one lighting device in communication with the receiving device and the home automation controller. The processor of the receiving device is programmed to send a command to the home automation controller specifying the ambient light effect determined by the processor to be associated with the portion of the video content. The lighting device generates the ambient light effect specified in the command when the portion of the video content is displayed to a user.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling ambient light effects in video gaming are provided. The system includes a gaming device including at least one processor programmed to parse incoming video game content to detect at least one portion of the video game content and determine at least one ambient light effect to be associated with the at least one portion of the video game content. The system also includes at least one lighting device in communication with the gaming device. The processor of the gaming device is programmed to send a command from the gaming device to the at least one lighting device to specify at least one ambient light effect determined by the at least one processor to be associated with the at least one portion of the video content. After receiving the command, the at least one lighting device generates the specified ambient light effect.

A system includes a receiving device including at least one decoder programmed to parse an incoming video file to separate at least one track including at least one ambient light effect associated with at least one portion of the video file. The system further includes a processing module programmed to generate a command to at least one lighting device in communication with the receiving device to generate the ambient light effect included in track separated from the video file. The processing module is programmed to send the command to the lighting device for generating the ambient light effect included in the track separated from the video file when the portion of the video file associated with the ambient light effect is displayed to a user.

Thereafter, the instructions cause the processor to present the information from the sensor on the display in accordance with the API.

Abstract: A file for storing digital data with high compression rate stores digital data for video and audio signals in multiple streams interleaved with each other. Each track has a stream descriptor list and a stream data list. The stream descriptor list includes a stream header chunk, a stream format chunk, and a stream name chunk. For a video stream, the stream descriptor list also includes a stream header data chunk if the video stream is under digital rights management (DRM) protection. The file format is compatible with high level data compressing algorithms, such as MPEG-4, which provide data compression ratio about six to ten times higher than a standard DVD format.
