Patent number: 12208229Abstract: Disclosed is a convenient joining of tubing in a secure, leak-free connection, suitable for aseptic fluid transfer, wherein two holders each have a channel designed to house tubing and each holder has a mating surface at one end of the channel. The ends of the respective tubing closest to the mating surfaces are fitted with male and female hollow connectors. Tape is attached to the region of the connectors near the tubing and/or to the tubing itself. After the holders are joined, the ends of the tape are pulled to advance the male and female connectors to mate and form a secure connection.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 2024Date of Patent: January 28, 2025Assignee: Unicorn Biotechnologies Ltd.Inventors: George Leonard Freeman, Albert Houghton, Carl Heimann, Jakub Jasik, Adam Mitchell, Poppy Culshaw, Adam Glen

Patent number: 12203549Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for sealing an opening through the boundary of a controlled thermal and gaseous environment such as an incubator or refrigerator, where conduit channels of arbitrary size and number are transferred across the boundary. A silicone or polymeric tube with flanges at either end is passed through the boundary opening, fixing one side to the boundary wall and attaching the other to a mechanism that controls or constrains the rotation of the tube. This is achieved by rotating or twisting one end of the tube, creating a hyperboloid-like structure that will seal around the conduits and thereby seal the opening. To further improve thermal efficiency, insulating material such as expanded polystyrene beads are placed into the space between the silicone or polymeric tube and the wall of the incubator, providing thermal stability that cannot be achieved by conventional conduit transferring methods.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2024Date of Patent: January 21, 2025Assignee: Unicorn Biotechnologies Ltd.Inventors: George Leonard Freeman, Albert William Houghton, Carl Heimann, Jakub Jasik, Adam Mitchell, Poppy Culshaw, Adam Glen

Patent number: 12116562Abstract: Disclosed is a system for automating passaging of anchorage dependent or adherent mammalian cells, having a fluid distribution cartridge where fluid channels each has an associated pneumatically controlled valve, and the valves can be selectively opened and closed to allow fluid which is pumped into channels in the cartridge to be selectively passed or interrupted. The channels are connected with a series of vessels each held in a housing structure, and a first frame rests on a surface and a second frame is attached with the first frame such that the second frame can tilt on a first axis with respect to the first frame, and the housing is attached to the second frame such that the housing can tilt on a second axis with respect to the second frame, and wherein the second axis is orthogonal to the first axis.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 2023Date of Patent: October 15, 2024Assignee: Unicorn Biotechnologies Ltd.Inventors: Albert William Houghton, George Leonard Freeman, Carl Heimann, Jakub Jasik, Adam Mitchell, Poppy Josephine Culshaw, Adam Glen

Publication number: 20180219423Abstract: Methods, systems, and techniques for wireless and single-conductor power transfer. A single-ended resonator receives power from an alternating current power source and inductively transfers this power to a receiving coil, which may be double ended. A reactive tuning network may be coupled in series, parallel, or a hybrid series-parallel configuration to the resonator and used to tune the resonant frequency of the resonator. Additionally or alternatively, matching between the receiving coil and a load connected to the receiving coil may be done adaptively and in real-time in response to changes in operating conditions. An arbitrarily shaped conducting structure, such as an oil rig, a table, or a shelf, may be used for single ended power transfer to the resonator.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 18, 2016Publication date: August 2, 2018Inventors: Adam Mitchell Maunder, Telnaz Zarifidizaji, Pedram Mousavi
