  • Patent number: 9528430
Abstract: Systems and methods for compensating for deposits that may accumulate within a compressor recirculation valve positioned in parallel with a turbocharger compressor are presented. The systems and methods adjust actuators to maintain engine operation such that it may be more difficult for a driver to become aware that a compressor recirculation valve diagnostic is being executed.

  • Publication number: 20160369716
Abstract: Methods are provided for improving boost pressure control in a boosted engine system. In one example, during a tip-in, an air bypass coupled across an intake compressor of the engine system may be kept open for a predetermined time. Keeping the air bypass open during tip-in enables the compressor to spin faster, and this faster speeds may translate into reaching a desired higher boost when the air bypass is subsequently closed in less time than heretofore possible.

  • Patent number: 9523341
Abstract: Systems and methods for improving transmission gear shifting of a hybrid vehicle are presented. The systems and methods may allow transmission input shaft torque to be lowered to levels where driveline torque disturbances may be reduced even though the driveline has a larger inertia. In one example, driveline torque may be reduced via retarding spark timing.

  • Publication number: 20160339920
Abstract: Systems and methods for improving shifting of a manual transmission coupled to an engine are presented. • Patent number: 9499164
Abstract: A hybrid electric vehicle includes an engine, an electric motor, a transmission gearbox, and a clutch selectively coupling the engine to the electric motor. Engine speed can drop dramatically when operating at high speeds during a scheduled shift event in the gearbox. To reduce the effects felt by the engine speed change, at least one controller is provided and programmed to slip the clutch when locked in response to a drive torque, estimated to be present upon completion of an anticipated shift event, exceeding available negative torque, such as regenerative torque and engine braking torque.

  • Patent number: 9499165
Abstract: Systems and methods for improving operation of a hybrid vehicle are presented. In one example, torque demand of a driveline after a shift is forecast to determine if it is desirable to start the engine early so that engine torque is available after the shift. The approach may improve vehicle torque response.

  • Patent number: 9371783
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for expediting purging of LP-EGR from an air intake system during conditions of decreasing engine load. During a tip-out, an EGR valve is closed while the engine is shifted to a VDE mode of operation to improve engine tolerance to EGR at lower engine loads and until the EGR is sufficiently purged. A non-VDE mode is resumed if higher engine loads are restored, else, a deceleration fuel shut-off mode is selected if the tip-out continues to zero load.
