  • Patent number: 11951285
Abstract: An injection device assembly including a housing, a syringe, a drive mechanism and one or more sensing systems are described. The drive mechanism advances the syringe from a storage position to an injection position, and a plunger advances the syringe piston from an initial position to a final position. The status sensing system may include one or more main PCB(s) disposed in an end portion of the injection device assembly's housing. The system may determine various parameters related to an operational status of the injection device, including the location of the device's components, an amount of medication remaining in the device, a temperature of the medication, and whether or not the device is properly contacting the user's skin before injection. The system may communicate such determined parameters to an external device via a wireless communication link.

  • Publication number: 20240066226
Abstract: Drug-delivery systems configured to generate indications regarding a user's level of skill, familiarity, or experience with operating such systems are described. The systems may comprise a syringe assembly, one or more skin contact sensors, and one or more syringe assembly sensors configured to detect initiation and/or completion of a dispensing event. The system may further comprise one or more processing circuits configured to measure a time duration between when the skin contact sensor(s) detect contact with skin tissue and when the syringe assembly initiates a dispensing event, compare the measured duration against a threshold time duration, and generate a user indication signal if the measured duration exceeds the threshold time duration.

  • Publication number: 20240038379
Abstract: A computing device is provided having a processor in communication with a memory configured to store machine-readable instructions. The processor can receive, from a wireless communication interface of a medication delivery device, an advertising packet comprising injection event information generated by the medication delivery device, analyze contextual data associated with the advertising packet to determine validation data, and choose, based on the validation data, between implementing any two or three of the following actions: (i) include the injection event information in a medication log, (ii) prompt a user for additional information, or (iii) ignore the advertising packet. The medication delivery device comprises (a) a reservoir configured to hold medication, (b) an actuating button for initiating an injection of the medication, and (c) a processing circuit in communication with the wireless communication interface.

  • Publication number: 20230293818
Abstract: A medication delivery device including a disposable portion and a reusable portion. The disposable portion can include a carrier and a syringe coupled with the carrier. The reusable portion can include a housing which includes radial opening that can receive the disposable portion in a radial direction. The reusable portion also includes a shuttle that includes a guide that can receive the carrier of the disposable portion through the radial opening. The reusable portion also includes an actuator assembly coupled with the shuttle that can move the disposable portion through the passageway of the housing between a stowed state in which the needle is concealed within the housing, a deployed state in which the needle extends from the housing to deliver the medication to a patient, and a retracted state in which the needle is retracted into the housing.

  • Publication number: 20230293101
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for evaluating injection sites on a body of a patient. The methods/systems may instruct a patient to place one or more capacitance sensors in contact with a potential injection site on the body of the patient. The methods/systems may also comprise using a processing circuit to receive data indicative of a capacitance of body tissue at the potential injection site, as measured by the one or more capacitance sensors. The methods/systems may also comprise generating, using the processing circuit, an indication of a level of pain that would be expected to be experienced by the patient from a potential injection at the potential injection site based on the received capacitance.

  • Publication number: 20230173196
Abstract: An injection device may include a housing and a baseplate coupled to the housing. The baseplate may include a flange portion and an axial portion that extends from the flange portion in a longitudinal direction of the housing. The baseplate may be an opaque, polymer material that is more thermally conductive than a material of the housing. The injection device may additionally include a syringe at least partially disposed within the housing. The syringe may include a needle. The injection device may include a deployment mechanism configured to move the syringe relative to the housing from a retracted position to a deployed position in which the needle projects beyond the baseplate. At least a portion of the syringe may be visible when the syringe is in the retracted position.
