  • Patent number: 9906594
Abstract: A client application coupled to a display generates a shared workspace that includes a content stream derived from a local user device a well as another content stream derived from a remote device. The client application is configured to detect when a user device is coupled locally, and to receive a content stream from that device. The client application determines when the other content stream is available, and then accesses that content stream via a streaming infrastructure. The client application then generates the shared workspace by rendering the two content streams to a display.

  • Publication number: 20170339216
Abstract: Various embodiments enable one or more appliances to participate in a shared workspace. The shared workspace can include a single appliance, multiple appliances, a single meeting room, multiple meeting rooms, or any combination thereof. The state of various meeting participants can be identified and one or more rules can be applied to the participants' state to provide an outcome. An “outcome” can be thought of as an action that is to be performed responsive to the identified state. An asset interaction control feature can be selected based on the outcome. The asset interaction control feature controls, in some manner, a participant's interaction with one or more assets that are part of the shared workspace. The asset interaction control feature is then applied to at least one of the assets.

  • Publication number: 20170230466
Abstract: Various embodiments enable user-applied annotations that arecreated and visually associated with an asset on one appliance to be shared amongst and synchronized between other appliances working together in a collaborative workspace environment. As an annotation is made, a stroke collection is defined and provided into a formatted list that represents the annotation. The formatted list is transmitted to a collaboration server which then notifies other appliances of the new annotation. When the other appliances request the formatted list, the collaborative server transmits the formatted list to the other applications so that the new annotation can be rendered on a corresponding display device.

  • Publication number: 20170228359
Abstract: Various embodiments provide a so-called snap grid that can be shared amongst various appliances in a collaborative workspace environment. A snap grid is a logical object that defines a series of cells. The cells can be generally contiguous with one another, or can be detached from one another and spread out across a workspace. In operation, a snap grid is assigned to a given workspace and serves to enable assets, such as digital content, to be fixed in predefined locations within the workspace. Snap grids are defined and rendered based on percentages of the total workspace that the snap grid occupies. These percentages can be described by metadata to permit snap grids to be shared and rendered across other appliances in the collaborative environment.

  • Publication number: 20170230440
Abstract: Techniques are described to transcode and control distribution of assets as part of a shared workspace. An asset is received for distribution as part of a shared workspace implemented using a plurality of appliances communicatively coupled, one to another, via a network. One or more settings are obtained that dictate which transformations are to be applied to the asset to form the plurality of versions of the asset. The asset is transcoded into a plurality of versions of the asset. Each of the plurality of versions has a difference, one to another, in a respective one of a plurality of characteristics of the asset. Distribution is controlled of the plurality of version of the asset as part of the shared workspace to the plurality of appliances.

  • Publication number: 20170228137
Abstract: Content is displayed during a collaboration session by causing an asset to be displayed on a first display at a first size and at a first aspect ratio, while the asset is displayed on a second display at a second size and at the first aspect ratio, receiving a first display input via the first display indicating a mode change for displaying the asset, and, in response to receiving the first display input, causing an image of at least a portion of the asset to be displayed on the first display at a third size that is larger than the first size, while the asset continues to be displayed on the second display at the second size and at the first aspect ratio.

  • Publication number: 20170230191
Abstract: A collaboration server transmits a server data structure to each client in a collaboration session for a shared workspace. The server data structure specifies a plurality of network connection metrics and a plurality of corresponding weights. Each client receives the plurality of metrics and weights and determines various values (such as a measured value, normalized value, and/or weighted value) for each metric. Each client also calculates an overall connection value based on a plurality of weighted values determined for the plurality of metrics. Each client generates and displays a connection indicator based on the overall connection value which represents an overall quality of a network connection between the client and the collaboration server. Each client also receives a remote overall connection value corresponding to a remote client and generates and displays a remote connection indicator based on the remote overall connection value.

  • Publication number: 20160373522
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for managing a collaboration environment comprises receiving sensor information from one or more sensors disposed at a first collaboration venue indicating that a first user is present within the first collaboration venue, receiving sensor information from one or more sensors disposed at a second collaboration venue indicating that a second user is present within the second collaboration venue, identifying the first user based on the sensor information received from the first collaboration venue, identifying the second user based on the sensor information received from the second collaboration venue, and executing one or more actions with respect to a third collaboration venue based on at least one of the information from one or more sensors disposed at the first collaboration venue and the sensor information from one or more sensors disposed at the second collaboration venue

  • Publication number: 20160364086
Abstract: An appliance device is configured to share content in a zone window. A content sharing session may be initiated by a user on the appliance device to share content with at least one client device. In response, the appliance device may display a zone window that is transmitted, via a content stream, to the at least one client device which displays the zone window. The appliance device may detect that a first digital asset has been added to the zone window by a user. In response, the zone window including the first digital asset is transmitted, via another content stream, to the at least one client device which displays the zone window with the first digital asset. In this manner, assets may be dynamically added to a zone window and automatically shared with client devices without requiring restart or interruption of the content sharing session.

  • Publication number: 20160320936
Abstract: In one embodiment of the present invention, a collaboration engine is configured to display shared digital assets consistently across displays. The collaboration engine receives container metadata generated based on a first location and first size of a digital asset within a first scaled workspace displayed on a first display. In response, the collaboration engine computes a second location and second size of the digital asset based on the container metadata and the size of a second scaled workspace. Finally, the collaboration engine configures the second device to display the digital asset within the second scaled workspace based on the second location and the second size. Notably, the container metadata correlates to the appearance of the digital asset on the first display, and the appearance of the digital asset on the second display correlates to the container metadata. Consequently, the appearance of the digital asset is consistent across the displays.

  • Publication number: 20160232647
Abstract: An appliance device to display a workspace with an aspect ratio assigned to the workspace, regardless of the aspect ratio of a local display. The appliance device displays only a portion of the workspace in a viewport window at one time. The appliance device also displays a preview version of the entire workspace. The preview version comprises a user-interface tool which enables panning of the workspace in the viewport window. A presenter device makes a presentation while interacting with a workspace while viewer devices watch the presentation. A viewer device displays the workspace with the assigned aspect ratio and displays only portion of the workspace at one time. When the presenter device interacts with a location of the workspace, the presenter device operates in conjunction with a messaging infrastructure and the viewer devices to automatically cause each of the viewer devices to display the location of interaction in the workspace.
